Protest In Nigeria - Organisers List 15 Non Negotiable Demands

Organizers of the planned nationwide protest, scheduled for August 5- August 10, have unveiled their key demands from President Bola Tinubu’s government.

1 - Toss the Senate arm of the Nigerian legislative system. Keep the House of Representatives and make lawmaking a part-time endeavour.

2 -Pay Nigerian workers a minimum wage of nothing less than N250,000 monthly.

3 -Invest heavily in education and give Nigerian students grants not loans. Aggressively pursue free and compulsory education for children across Nigeria.

4 -Release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu unconditionally and demilitarize the South East. All ENDSARS and political detainees must also be released and compensated.

5-  Rationalize public owned enterprises sold to government officials and cronies.

6 - Reinstate a corruption-free subsidy regime to reduce hunger, starvation and multidimensional poverty.

7 - Probe past and present Nigerian leaders, who have looted the treasury, recover their loot and deposit it in a special account to fund education, healthcare and infrastructure.

8 - They are also demanding the “Restructuring of Nigeria to accommodate Nigeria’s diversity, resources control, decentralization and regional development.

9 - “End banditry, terrorism and violent crimes. Reform security agencies to stop continuous human rights violations.

10 -“Establishment of a special energy immediately to drive massive corruption-free power sector development.

11 - Immediate reconstitution of the electoral body, INEC to remove corrupt individuals and partisan hacks appointed to manipulate elections.

12 - “Massive investment in public works and industrialization will help employ Nigeria’s teaming youths.

13 - “Massive shake-ups in the Nigerian judiciary to remove cabals of corrupt generations of judges and judicial officers that continue denying citizens access to real justice.

14 - -Diaspora voting”.

15 - Scrap the 1999 constitution and replace it with a people-made Constitution for the Federal Republic of Nigeria through a sovereign National Conference followed by a National Referendum.

Sowore? LOL Well some of these demands will just be on paper..

    2. Why is release Nnamdi Kanu part of the demands? Talk about RIDICULOUSNESS. Nigerians are not yet ready for change if they endorsed this NONSENSE! I thought they would include things like reduce import duty on food and all. Very generic and tribalistic demands.

    3. Is not Nigeria not supposed to be food sufficient with the natural and human resources God blessed this country with? Why should Nigeria be overdependent on food importation? The efforts local farmers are making have been thwarted by herdsmen....

  3. This is not realistic, adding Kanu to the list automatically disqualified the entire list because it makes it look like a south east movement.

    1. You are correct. They have politicized the matter for no good reason. I thought the protest was a grassroots ppl driven initiative. Oh well!

    3. It is now obvious some mischievous element are behind the protest, they don't even understand how good governance should be. Can Tinubu just wake up and toss the senate. Sick followers that wants good leaders.

    1. No, people commenting here are concerned about immediate solutions without realising that the problems of today are as a result years of corruption. You can imagine when the same people come here to read the minds of the people, they will be shaking their heads. Not everyone have the courage to demand for change, but please don't weaken the spirit of people who are ready to drive the change. Change does not come by sitting down in the house and pressing phones.

  8. Sincerely speaking I’m appalled by the demands up there this wasn’t well thought out they should be absolutely realistic and talk about important issues which one is nnamdi Kanu ?
    And special account
They couldn’t even word their demands properly and eluded some very vital issues.

    1. You see the tribalism in Nigeria is the problem and until evert Nigerian detribalize their minds, things will continue to go wrong. I didn't see any comment when Miyetti Alla chairman was released. Nnamdi Kanu, unfortunately is demanding for his rights and countries that have liberated themselves didn't get it by sitting in their houses. Don't misinterprete my point, no human life or property should be lost in the process of people wanting out from an entity. But African people abhors dialogue. Everything must end in violence. I live in Europe and I tell you, the Europeans are tired of migrants. Sad part is that there is so far you are different from them, you are considered a parasite eating deep into their systems. It will get worse in the coming months and it is sad to see comments tribalizing everything.

  13. I can just imagine the Presidency laughing at the demands. We know Nigeria is tough at the moment, but these demands will go no where.

    ReplyDelete
  14. So what they listed there is what the protest is all about? Dem never ready.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Chai 😪 they've politised the protest.
No where they talk about regulating the prices of food commodities and reduction.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Just seeing MNK in the list of demands lets me know this is a political movement. Is this going to be the protest that will cause the descent into total chaos? Military licking their lips on the sidelines.

    ReplyDelete
  17. All the demands are okay

  18. Release Nnamdi Kalu now!!, His arrest is affecting us terribly in the South East. Don't mind some selfish Nigerians who doesn't care of our plight here. Due to Nnamdi Kalu's arrest.

    1. I am Igbo and I also want Nnamdi Kanu to be released; but honestly that should not be our priority for this protest.
This protest is to let the politicians know that Nigerians are not happy with the corruption and bad governance going on presently!

    2. Anyone 16.41, I understand you. We can't also ignore such injustice. People may not like him, but is it just about him? Look at the larger picture. This man and the larger Igbo people wants to leave Nigeria because of the same issue we are all complaining about today. Injustice, bad governance and corruption has destroyed every fabric of our society and pitched citizens against each other. Do we have a Judiciary. The judicial system that the politicians don't respect. If you don't have a just Judiciary, you have no country. If we have a united country, this man should still not be in detention. If the court has released him, why would the government keep holding him? If our government cannot respect the rule of law, tell me how ordinary citizens would cope in an unjust society? I am sure you would have a second thought. The rising food costs emanates from bad policies driven by corruption. If the foundation is not strengthened, the upper parts would he in shambles. This is the problem of Nigeria. I wish Nigerians understand how these politicians have divided Nigerians. It makes me sad. If we can be so divided to such an extent that we are no longer objective in our reasonings, why should we remain as one. I see it as hypocritical. Bad governance and corruption knows no tribe or religion. Hence, we need a united Nigeria to fight off this menace. Sorry for the long texts. I just feel sad for Nigerians suffering, and also the burden of having to use a larger part of my earnings to support several family members at home.

  19. Nigerians are too divided and cowards for a successful protest. No single atom of patriotism on an average Nigerian.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Anyone that sees opportunity to jappa should grab it with the speed of light bcos you see an average Nigerian has deep rooted hatred towards each other especially the other part hatred to Igbos can't be measured. As it is a house divided against its self can never stand so don't waste your life saving people that don't want to be saved rather save up and get you and your loved ones to a saner clime

  21. Stella nawa oo were did you bring your own list from because no be this one I see online. This one is looking like list from the camp of the enemy

  22. I thought that the organisers of the 'end bad governance' are faceless. Are they ready to tell us who the organisers are. Some of their demands are ridiculous. Some lazy youths are just waiting for the opportunity to unleash mayhem on innocent citizens as well as looting people's businesses.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Obviously govt was right about this being a political protest. Imagine adding release of Kanu to the list. Is that part of Nigerias suffering? And how can govt pay N250k to security, cleaners, etc? Do u know the massive inflation that would cause? Now I see d hidden faces. I won't be part of this anymore
