The Federal Government has blamed the government of Ogun State over the agreement with Zhongshan Fucheng Industrial Investment, a Chinese firm, leading to the seizure of presidential jets. Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, said the federal government is taking steps towards resolving the issue.


The Chairman National Peace Committee (NPC) and former Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd), Convener, Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, and other members of the committee have listed why the 2023 general elections recorded lower voter turnout than expected. They spoke on Friday at the formal presentation of the NPC’s 2023 General Elections Report in Abuja.

At least 20 medical students of the University of Maiduguri, Borno State, and University of Jos, Plateau State, have been abducted. The Police in Benue State on Friday confirmed the abduction, saying it took place along Otukpo-Enugu road.

 Operatives of the Special Tactical Squad have arrested a 30-year-old woman identified as Hauwa Yusuf for hiding one AK-47 rifle and four magazines inside a sack of garri. Yusuf was arrested along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway during a stop-and-search operation.

 The Niger State Police Command is examining the corpse of a man found on a roadside to ascertain the cause of his death. The man, simply identified as Buba, believed to have been a beggar was found dead by the roadside around the BCGA Bridge on Kontagora-Zuru Road in Kontagora LGA of Niger State.

The National Judicial Council, NJC, has constituted four probe panels to investigate 27 high court judges in the country over various allegations of judicial misconduct brought against them. The Council also issued a letter of advice to Justice O. M. Olagunju of Oyo State High Court to be circumspect as a judicial officer before acting, even in the most challenging situation.

 At Friday’s meeting of the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) in Abuja, a total sum of N1.358 trillion was shared among the Federal Government, State Governments, and Local Government Councils in Nigeria. The allocation is for the July 2024 Federation Accounts Revenue.

 Justice F.O. Enenmo, presiding over a Delta High Court in Kwale Judicial Division has in separate judgments convicted two for murder and armed robbery. In the case marked (HCK/13C/2021), Justice Enenmo convicted Izagwu Obodo, who on 21/8/2021 shot to death Nonso Dibia in Umu-Itchi community.
