ADVICE NEEDED
How do I tell my African, Nigerian parents that I don’t want to get married?
I’m 26, working and studying, doing my best for myself and I’m very beautiful! No cap.
So how do I tell them I don’t want to get married. I’m just not interested!
LMAO!!!......They have started disturbing you, not a bad thing though but maybe their mode of distrubance isnt OK......Why are you not interested in gettming married? Or you mean you are not ready?
Tell them you have not seen anyone that wants to marry and that until then you want to concentrate on your study...If they wont let you be,, then move out!
Tell them oga hasn't come.

I have a cousin that said she wasn't interested in marriage,no children for her.now she is 36 and she so wants to be in a relationship that she doesn't mind as far as the person is a man because she is now yearning for kids....

I don’t know if you have no interest in marriage whatsoever for the rest of your life or you are just not interested right now at this point in your life.
ReplyDeleteYour parents have seen things and perhaps they know that the culture is not kind to unwed women after a certain age. You can tell them the goals you have for yourself and the personal achievements you want to have in life, how you want to develop yourself and that for now your ambitions do not include marriage. If they are not high achievers they may not understand why you are driven and highly ambitious, especially since you are a woman and great ambitions are often more acceptable for a man. You can tell them you will get some eggs frozen if they are worried about family legacy. But you just have to let them know you are a driven person and personal achievement and making a name for yourself in your industry is more important than being married or having a family at this stage of life.
Let's get something straight here sis... You don't want to get married kpatapata😏 or you're not just interested in getting married now because of studies and all. If so, have a conversation with them and make them see reasons with you

ReplyDeleteOnce you are sure of you want, stick to it, people will come around. I don't know who all these marriages or procreation helped, we have enough marriages and children as it is. I am44 yrs okd and don't want to marry and/or have children too and I have stopped explaining about 10yrs ago.
