USA is doing Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteNigerians in the US carry mata for head. It's beginning to look like inferiority complex. Na so one do video enter road, biker nearly dinish her leg.
Indians and Asians are more in number, they're respecting themselves.
And what's it with 3 fat large ladies crushing whole roast turkey then end up with bulgy stomachs. Na wa.๐

No offense XP, many ๐ณ๐ฌs in the US that “carry Thanksgiving for head” are Americans too, we are grateful to God for our journey, like the children of Israel in exile. We know our individual stories & use it as an opportunity to get together, reminisce, break bread and give thanks together as families and friends. My Asian and Hispanic neighbors do exactly the same. It is an American holiday that signals the start of the Christmas/festive season for everyone so much that corporate ๐บ๐ธ doesn’t just give the day (last Thursday of November) as paid holiday but the next day, last Friday of November, Black Friday which is being adopted by many businesses globally for $. Many streets and houses usually decorate depending on the weather after Thanksgiving with the bright lights in the subdivisions reminding us of the close of yet another year that God has made. I bring out my tree & wreaths & we decorate as well.
DeleteIt is the Nigerians living IN Nigeria who celebrate Thanksgiving on the same day of November (you can give thanks everyday of the year) that have an inferiority COMPLEX. I have been here for decades, came with just a couple of suitcases, not a lot of $ but a lot of faith in God. I thank God for how he has been good to us and it’s the only holiday that I could host up to 30 people in my house because of my gratitude to my Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. We have no reason to feel inferior & many of us are very successful ๐บ๐ธ๐ณ๐ฌs and are not even on SM nor post mundane Turkey, Mac & cheese or Cornbread pics as we have nothing to prove but gratitude.
Due to the native Indians & the origin, many culturally sensitive ๐บ๐ธs don’t identify with the origin but the intent & spirit of gratitude. It’s a different thing if you are in Lekki or VI celebrating ๐บ๐ธpublic holidays like some ๐ณ๐ฌs seem to do. My friends and I often joke that the way ๐ณ๐ฌs in Naija copy ๐บ๐ธculture, they won’t mind becoming the 51st state of the Union as some in Nigeria even celebrate July 4th (๐บ๐ธIndependence Day), as crazy as it sounds!
Thanksgiving done in diaspora is equivalent to annual harvest thanksgiving here ๐พ๐พ Thanking God for year end, celebrating with families & neighbours ๐ง๐ฅ๐ฐ
ReplyDeleteThanksgiving is everything to me, I not only thรฆnk God. I thank my loved ones, my children, neighbours too who make life easier for me ❤️
What are thankful for in this economy abeg
ReplyDeletePretty tricky na to thank God for sustainance of life wetin person go do kwanu eeh
DeleteThanksgiving actually is a holiday originally created from the massacre of Indigenous peoples in the US. It has been recreated to be some kind of family based holiday but the history of the holiday is bloody and wicked.
ReplyDeleteHarvest celebrations are completely different thing and a wholesome celebration for us to continue and even make bigger.
