So for the first time since I started driving, I finally drove on regular traffic (outside my area) alone with no supervision from my husband.
ReplyDeleteNeeded to go for my training course where I would actually need the car for the practicals and since it was a full day course, I couldn’t just ask my husband to drive me there and have him stress to go back home so I decided to do it myself and apart from missing my road a couple of times when i was going, I did a pretty good job. Since my husband is the weapon fashioned against my driving because I was less tensed without him there and ended up making only very minimal errors.
I think I will start driving alone more often now.
Ehn ehn, Fidel, to answer ur question; when we relocated to Switzerland and decided to convert our Portugal driving license, my husband got the one with no expiry date ( like it’s forever) because he had been driving for over a year in Portugal but because I had gotten my license just a few months before we moved, I got a probationary license that expires in 2 years and needed this course (called WAB course) before I can get a permanent license. Thank God it’s not an exam, just some training and that was what I was doing yesterday. So once this my license expires now, I will get the permanent one. Hope u understand my explanation.

ReplyDeleteJacob was a mess before he met God. He was a child of the promise, but he was too full of himself. He was one of those people that believed they can always make it by themselves. They have a plan for everything. They have everything figured out. Their plan A is backed by a formidable Plan B. And just in case that one fails too, there is a handy Plan C and D all ready. He can make it by hook or by crook.
God could bless him, but… His mind left little room for God. Until he met his match in Laban. God used Laban to begin a process of breaking Jacob. Things got so bad; he had to go to God in humility to ask how to handle the situation.
It is at Jabbok in the passage above that we see the fulness of that breaking to bless. If you read the whole chapter, you will see how Jacob carefully designed plans of escape for his family and himself. Overwhelmed with fear, he put a plan A to appease his brother. Then Plan B: divide the family into smaller groups to ensure at least some people can escape if things get messy. Then he would have the ample chance of running for his life as Plan C just in case.
But that night, God showed up. They fought. (That is not a very accurate description of what happened). God just allowed Jacob to hold him captive to demonstrate how powerful the promise of God can restrain God in his relationship with men. No human being can stop God. But every time you stand on the Word of God, you can “wrestle” with him and “win”.
For God to truly bless Jacob, he had to first break him – mentally, emotionally and then the physical dislocation of his joint as a perpetual reminder of his brokenness. Just the same way that God had to break Abraham through circumcision before Isaac was birthed, so also Jacob’s trust in his escape plan was broken by God. With a dislocated hip, there was no way he could run away from Esau.
Then God gave him a new name. He had to break Jacob to bring out Israel.
There is a greatness in you, a strength in you, a wealth in you. If God doesn’t break this old you, that new you will remain hidden. He breaks us in the place of prayer. That’s one reason we cry when we pray.
