Actress Jemima Osunde recently shared her experience of contracting Helicobacter pylori from contaminated food on a movie set three years ago. She confirms that this has led to a prolonged battle with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which has significantly impacted her health and daily life

    Gerd is acid reflux, H.Pylori causes stomach ulcer. How are they related? I hope they have not misdiagnosed her as it is common in Nigerian hospitals. She should go outside Nigeria for further tests.

      H.Pylori is one of the causes of GERD and also causes stomach ulcer. I suffer from both with HP being the culprit. Say what you know pls

      H pylori does not cause Gerd. It causes ulcer and not Gerd. Gerd is a reflux. Bacteria won’t cause acid to move up your throat or open your throat food to travel up.

      You can suffer from both, but your Gerd isn’t caused by pylori. Eradicate it and you’ll see your Gerd will still remain if you don’t use PPIs.
      Treatment modalities for Gerd and pylori are even different sef.

    This is awful. We take a risk every time we eat anything. Food prepared elsewhere by someone or a machine that we know nothing about its source of hygiene is even a greater risk. I truly wish you a full and complete recovery.

    The incubation period for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection is considered unknown as symptoms may not appear for a long time after exposure often weeks or months. So how is she certain which particular food gave her the infection. If she has GERD on that set, then it was probably a long time coming. For all I know, the pylori could have been gotten from any other random place. Hpylori can be eradicated. GERD on the other hand is not that simple. Make she Easy with the accusations
    All in a bid to paint people bad.
