Court Rejects Privacy Violation Suit Against Senator Natasha Akpoti But Criticises Her Social Media Conduct

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Abuja dismissed a privacy violation claim against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan but criticized her social media conduct.

The lawsuit was filed by Ali Bello, Chief of Staff to the Kogi State Governor, who alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan violated his right to privacy by posting details about his residence on X

While the court ruled that Bello failed to prove his privacy was breached, the judge condemned Akpoti-Uduaghan’s actions as “reprehensible” and unbefitting of her status. The post in question referenced a house allegedly linked to corruption investigations but did not explicitly name Bello.
