 Edo State Police Command, on Sunday, announced the arrest of the deposed Ohen (priest) of Okhuoromi in Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State Ovbokhan Igbinvia, along with five others, for alleged involvement in kidnapping activities. According to the command, arms and ammunition, including AK-47 rifles, bullets and other items, such as a suspected human skull, were recovered during the operation.


A two-storey building under construction collapsed, on Sunday, on Ishaga Road, opposite the Central Mosque in the Idi Araba area of Mushin, Lagos State. One body was recovered from the rubble, while three persons were rescued and rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Seven persons have lost their lives, while 16 others escaped with injuries in an accident involving an articulated vehicle, along Agaie-Badegi Road, in Katcha Local Government Area of Niger state. The Director-General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, Abdullahi Baba-Arah, in a statement, attributed the accident to a bad portion of the road on Lambata/Bida axis.

 Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have intercepted opioids worth over N3.2 billion in separate operations at the Apapa and Port Harcourt ports. The Director of Media and Advocacy at the NDLEA, Mr Femi Babafemi, who disclosed this in a statement on Sunday noted that the seizure was made on May 14, during a joint examination of the container by NDLEA officers, personnel from the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, and other security agencies.

. Imo State Police Command has said the 15 students who were declared missing on their way from Onitsha in Anambra State to write the rescheduled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Okigwe in Imo State have been found and reunited with their families.

 A pastor in one of the white garment churches has reportedly been arrested in connection with the death of four siblings in Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State. Although the council chairman, Mr Ferdinand Ukwueze, confirmed the arrest during a visit to the deceased’s family on Saturday, he could not name the suspect, who was said to be a member of the Sabbath Church located in the area.

 The Ilajo Royal Family of Kabba in Kogi has hailed the Supreme Court’s verdict upholding their right to contest for the revered Obaro stool. In a statement on Sunday by Dr Samuel Alori, President-General of the Ilajo Descendants Union, the family expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s decision.

  2. It's the season of deposing evil community leaders & chiefs...imagine Chief priest that should be protecting his own people are selling them out! Household enemies.

    Buildings marked for demolitions were updated some years back in Lagos na...why this collapsed again? Lagos State can do better pls, I dislike unavoidable deaths....
