In a candid interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, the 32-year-old singer disclosed that she contemplated quitting music after the accident but was discouraged by Canadian film producer Lorne Michaels.
“He said to me, ‘Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild’,” she recalled.
“He’s like, ‘you have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music.
“Everyone does this, everyone has these traumatic experiences.”

Her story is a powerful reminder that even icons face moments of doubt and pain, like any human when they hit break point. Lorne’s words were deeply grounding, they paired well with her vulnerability at that moment.
