Murja Ibrahim Kunya, a TikTok influencer from Kano, has been sentenced to six months in prison for Naira abuse. The Federal High Court in Kano found her guilty of violating Section 21(1) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Act, 2007, which prohibits the mutilation and abuse of the Nigerian currency.
Justice Simone Amobeda sentenced her to six months imprisonment with an option of a ₦50,000 fine. Additionally, the court appointed her as an Ambassador for the EFCC and CBN, requiring her to use her social media influence to educate followers on the importance of respecting the Nigerian currency.
