  2. Why did these women allowed themselves to be treated like this? Funnily, I must have been admiring
one of these women going through these things in marriage , thinking that all is rossy since they got married

  4. I'm not surprised most of the victims are Yoruba s, compared to other tribes, the disrespect that tribe metes on women is something else. #ivegotastory. Lord have mercy and help us.

    1. It's so because in Igbo, it's their mothers that goes to help her daughter, tend to the new born and as such the level of mistreatment is very minimal unlike yoruba's that the husband's mother will insist on coming and when they come most of them don't do what they actually came for, if care isn't taken the marriage can even come to an end.

    2. Mariam really? Wow is it mandatory that it is the man's mother that will come for omugwo

    3. I am a yoruba i didnt allow my mother to come , i have already told my wife before delivery that it is her mother that will do the omugo not my mum i dont want drama . The 2 that i have na her mother came

    4. @ Chichi, in Yoruba land, it's usually the husband's mother that go for omugwo just like in Igbo land where you hardly hear of the husband's mother coming but the narratives are changing because of this maltreatment and the problems that usually arises, so some cooperating husband now allow/support the woman's mother to come first and after she has healed properly, the husband's mother can come around, although we have some good mother in-laws doing the duty well.

    5. I'm full blooded Yoruba left, right, and centre and no one in my husband's family has ever treated me this way, and no one will!!
Mariam, that was back in the days, most people I know have their mothers (woman's mum) coming first to take care of them after they give birth.
My mum was with me for 7 months after I gave birth, my mum in law came and stayed for 2 months afterwards.
Contrary to what you think, yorubas are usually the first to actually throw away those cultural strongholds and behaviours and just roll with the tides, case in point, you won't find any Yoruba bride going to their village to get married if their parent lives elsewhere, heck, my dad's family members in the village didn't even know I was getting married to talk of coming to call any shot, my cousin from father's side who is only about 7 years older than I am walked me down the aisle, no Biggie.
The problem with a lot of the women above is that they chose to accept the trash with their full chest and stayed put. People will test you to see how much bullshit you can take, you are the one who will tell them, heck no!!, we don't take that here.

    6. It's the husbands that allow their mothers/sisters to treat their wives anyhow.
I'm married to a Yoruba man and he does not allow his family to insult me let alone treat me anyhow. If I ever experience half of what I read up there, I will walk away. I wonder why they refused to leave the marriages.

  5. There are female narcissists but narcism is on the high side in men because of how they were brought up. It's common with people who grew up in a home where they have maids, those last born males, only son and people who gave birth to only boys and hardly discipline them, leaving every work for their maids.

    2. I didn't accuse men, check it out again. I am talking about the narcissists. Unless you want to tell me that all men treat their women the way these women are being treated. I hope you are not trying to make me understand that all men are narcissistic in nature?

I come dey even fear self with this marriage thing. One needs to be very careful when choosing a partner. How on earth would you treat a woman that just put to bed so badly? Why? Did she kill? Anytime I remember how Kora Obidi's husband treated her when she just put to bed I keep wandering where human sympathy is. Of all times to unleash anger on your woman, it shouldn't be when she's still fresh on childbirth, no matter her offense. You have been managing her bad character all these years so why choose now that she recently put to bed to start treating her badly?

    3. Sometimes you feel you have no where to go. Sometimes you would have invested a lot into the relationship. Sometimes waking away is not as easy as you think. Women are not stupid. Some of us prayed and believed God for a husband only for him to become something else. Most women suffer in silence because they just don’t know why to do. Even family and society will
      Not suppose you.

It’s so sad these days that children whom mothers suffer for, turn against them and even feel they should bear what their father does. Life I not balanced.

When we comment let’s take it easy. When it comes to your turn, you will know how easy it is to pack and leave your home.

So they prefer to suffer because they don't want to get beaten and they are not ready to leave the marriage. They want to die there.

    1. Do you know the condition in which they got pregnant? You think it's everybody that got pregnant by sleeping around? Even those that sleep around don't get pregnant because they always know their way out. I hope you are a virgin too. If you are saying this and you are not a virgin then your level of hypocrisy needs to be touched by the Holy Spirit

  12. Some mother-in-laws are from hell! My ex-mother-in-love was good to me but her son? Haa!

I was once kicked & slapped by ex-husband 2 days after I put to bed. On the road, it was passersby that helped me get home ๐Ÿ˜ฐ After that day, something in me broke...that marriage never remained the same. I left immediately. #storiesofwomeninbadmarriges#leavetolive#youarebetteralive ๐Ÿค—

    1. You should be happy that your husband is solidly behind you. Who cares what the family members think?

But make sure you are not the one causing problems between him and his family o. Treat them as a family, if they are not pleased with your kindness, then , you mind your business. Cut them off totally from your life and focus on making your husband happy . Life ana'aga aga.
