Bizman Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu Reportedly Bans Wife from Remarrying As Will Is Read

Former president of Ohaneze ndi igbo late chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu's Will has been made public a year after his passing, revealing the distribution of his assets among his wife, children, and beneficiaries.

His wife, Lolo Frances, inherited his Port Harcourt Road residence in Owerri, Magil Furniture, and shares in several landed properties, but with a condition that she cannot remarry or she will forfeit these properties.

The Will also stipulates the sale of the family's London property, with proceeds allocated for education and accommodation, and the placement of the Glass House in a public trust for charitable purposes.

Other properties were distributed among his children, who reportedly expressed gratitude over their father's fairness and compassion.

The will

    1. Getting a boyfriend is sinful, restricting her from remarriage is sinful. She should get married again if she wants, to hell with the properties.

    3. She is free to remarry though without his property. It’s actually the culture in my town. Once a widow chooses to remarry…she has to move outside the husband’s house. Let Bianca choose to remarry today…she will forfeit all Ojukwu’s inheritance. But her son can keep them though.

  3. Ngbanu, baby girl! Na you hold yam, na you hold knife... I think she can ask her lawyer if she can have a boyfriend so she can be chopping him by the side just to hold body.....

Jokes aside, the will is fair enough because in the real sense, death don end the marriage...... Most of these big men know these ladies marry them for their wealth, not necessarily for love.....

It's okay so no transferring of their wealth to one man so it is retained in the family.....

A common clause in the Wills of men of his stature.
No big deal about it. It is found in Wills of even lesser men here and in Europe and USA.

Some men permit the keeping of all other gifts apart from the Residence if the widow remarries .

    If we may ask:
What manner of man would marry a widow and go live with her in her late husband's house and maybe in the compound where the late husband of the woman is buried?

If men are asked whether they are men simply for replying an uncouth woman or saying somethings, would we call such a man, a Man? Because he married a widow?

In one case, the late man's daughter became very combative with her mother for always bringing home her lover into her late husband's bedroom. What angered the daughter the most was that the late father was buried in the sitting room of the flat. And, as the daughter said, her mother's lover always had to literally and figuratively walked over her father's grave into the bedroom.

    2. Well said @ Frances.

Common clause since before Will writing reach Nigeria.
Even under Most Nigerian customs, which widow marries and remains in her late husband's home or brings her new husband to live with her in her late husband's home (technically his family home/compund)?

  15. It's a good one. If you didn't marry the man for his money you would forfeit those things when you find true love. Haven't you invested in yourself enough while in the marriage? What do you need the property for? Unless you want to tell me that you built the wealth with him.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I believe it's so his wealth does not land in another man's hands for him to flex with. Some guys might even disguise to marry her just to enjoy. Baba knows what's up.
The decision is in her hands now.

  18. If you are a man and you fail to do this should you attain a certain level of wealth, then you have lived a wasted life with shitty or no legacy at all. In my books, the children should take all the wealth because the woman will still fck small boys here and there. Your will should only benefit your children, that's all.

Folks are so fixated on being alive they make no mental, spiritual and emotional preparations for the day that they no longer have a body. Resting in peace was not his mission.

  24. OKAY, I think the clause is okay.
Lola Frances (sister to prince of BBnaija), her mother was a friend to his late wife, when the woman died, her friend started paying condolence visit with her young daughter ,Poco a Poco, the daughter became a wife. The man started by bulldozing the very outdated palace of her father and building a new majestic one, sponsoring the entire household including prince .
SDK she can have a boyfriend but it has to be low-key, because if she display him, they can sue.
People who say she should forfeit...can she? That's what brought her to him in the first place, but if she was smart enough and has her own investments (I don't think it will surpass this) she could also leave if she gets a bigger fish. Otherwise the property he left is okay, he didn't really have sooo much like before (daily champion), it's like dele oga ovation, tik tok, IG and sdk blog no let us find newspaper or magazine again. Politics did okay for him one time but he has other kids too.

    2. Well done, Madam (or Oga) for speaking in context. Even young men put this clause in their Wills. Some men only give a life interest to their wives; meaning the wife cannot sell. When she goes, the property returns to the children or the estate to be dealt with as permissible under the law. We seen how some men hawk on widow and help them to lavish and finish their inheritance. In a way, he is protecting her. And as it is being broadcast not, such hawks will stay way. She has a better chance of getting the "genuine" so call "boyfriend"

  29. Even in death you still want to cage this young lady that is full of life chai some men are selfish and wicked.

What he doesn't know is that legally she can collect her inheritance, sell it and buy property in her name unless there is a claue that she cant sell the property.
