Motherhood Chronicles

What first real meals did you introduce your baby to ? Was it easy feeding them or very difficult? Any tips for those needing it? How old was your baby when you introduced proper food?

  1. I started by introducing blended fruits called ‘frutta’ in Portugal, one fruit at a time at 4 months as suggested by their paediatrician.

    Then purees, blended potatoes

  2. I did six months exclusive for my daughter, then introduced Cerelac cereal to her, oh how she loves it, I later introduced amala with ewedu which she didn't like as much as the cereal, but you see my son, that one dorlesn't care about breastmilk, all he wants is better food for im tummy, na side eyes e dey take look cereal when I introduced it to him, na me still chew the only bottle I bought for him, just give him amala with ewedu or tea with bread, he's good to go.
Their teethng phases didn't give me any problem because I always give them Bonababe (not more than one bottle) from when they are three months.

  3. At 5 months I was giving my baby only breast milk and baby milk. As an inexperienced mum I tot the baby must get to 6 months before eating solids.
My baby was always crying, even after feeding. I didn't know what the problem was until my older cousin visited and told me it's hunger. She said that the milk and breast milk are no longer holding baby, that I should introduce pap.

  5. My baby is 7 months old now, And I have since started giving him, pap, avocado puree, cerelac, soybeans. He takes tea in the morning also. I really don't know what else to add.

As for solids, I do give him ogbono soup and agidi, tiny pieces of crushed meat, but most times, he doesn't swallow it, he brings it all out again.

Pls mummies, between milo and bournvita, which one is better for babies?

    1. Tango momma, I don't think milo or bournvita beverages are recommended for babies or how old is your baby?

    3. After one year you can introduce Ovaltine.Milo is for kids 4yrs and above but most people don't know/follow the instruction by the manufacturer.I've never been a fan of bournvita so dont know/care to know the appropriate age.I did my research on ovaltine before I started giving it to my baby.

  6. I bought nutribom, nutriben and nan2 at the same but my son didn't even want any. I had to forcefeed him small quantity like once a day cos I be scaredy cat, Kai it wasn't easy. Also tea. Even snacks and sweets that kids like, my son didn't want. He started eating snacks after I weaned him but not regular food. I also tried that semo with milk. Still a picky eater till date, he'll rather drink gari than eat swallow. I started giving my daughter cerelac (plate and spoon, not bottle) @6months, wasn't taken too much but better than her brother. She was interested in regular food but not too much. She's better than her brother sha but she dey do shakara sometimes.

  8. My first was a picky eater but he quickly adjusted when we visited my mum. It was amala & ewedu that did the trick. Lol.
For weaning, I used home-made red & millet pap with baby milk. Followed by mashed beans with crayfish... eggs, potatoes, oily fish etc. I breastfed them up to 1 year plus tho.

    1. My son didn't like egg until his dad started forcing him. He would be eating egg and crying. He used to bring it back from school. Thank God he eats it now.

  10. I did 6 months exclusive for my son. After which i introduced pap and nutribom. At first he wasn't interested and we would fight it out. But later on he adjusted to only pap (I used to make it myself and fortify with dates and all). Gradually we started taking swallow, fruits and every other food I was eating.

  12. All my kids are picky eaters and refused any other food apart from breastmilk till they were over one year old. My second and third were slightly better though. Till date they don't eat soft textured foods.

  13. I introduce noodles and swallow with draw soup.
I make sure the noodles is very soft with egg. For the swallow, I really needed lots of patience to feed him.

  14. Started with home made puree (using fruits and veggies one at a time time )from as early as 5 months when they could really hold head up and were very interested in trying out adult meals...

  15. I started with pap. Then progressed to purees, but my kids didn't like purees. My second son that is 2 years is such a picky eater, only eats like 3 things. See when. Feeding kids is very exhausting
