
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode, in line to produce the next Awujale of Ijebuland has officially signaled its readiness to fill the vacant stool. The ruling house did this by rolling out the traditional Gbedu drums following the passing of late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona of the Anikinaiya Ruling House of Ijebu Ode.

The Kano/Jigawa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, said it has arrested a suspected trafficker and seized a large quantity of Pangolin scales worth several millions of naira. The Area Controller, Comptroller Dalhatu Abubakar, made this known while addressing newsmen over the interception and subsequent arrest of the suspect.

Ondo State Police Command has arrested a landlord and two other suspects over the abduction and murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), Abah John Friday, 25, and Okah Andrel Eloho, 19. Addressing journalists in Akure, the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Lawal, revealed that one of the arrested suspects, Oladele Femi, was the landlord of the male victim, and confessed to orchestrating the crime.

Prof. Lar Patricia Manko, acting Vice Chancellor of Yakubu Gowon University (Former University of Abuja), has reacted to the allegation of land grabbing against the institution by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike. In an interview with newsmen in Abuja, Manko said the 11,000 hectares of land is a legacy asset given to the institution by the Federal Government.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang has praised the efforts of the military in securing the people of the state but at the same time said that those who killed several villagers in Tahos, Riyom Local Government Area were not spirits. Speaking during a visit to the attacked communities on Wednesday, he lamented the failure to apprehend any of the attackers despite the presence of a nearby military post.

Elder statesman and Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olabode George, has said that despite the exit of stalwarts of the party, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the party remains an Iroko tree and will weather the storm. In an interview, he noted that although an Iroko tree could lose branches, it remained solid after a storm, adding that an individual did not make a party.
