Oil marketers and industry stakeholders have thrown their weight behind the proposed sale of Nigeria’s refineries under the management of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, calling for transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability in the process.


 Barring any last-minute changes, the All Progressives Congress is expected to set up a convention planning committee during its National Executive Committee meeting scheduled for July 24. It was gathered that the committee will oversee preparations for the party’s National Elective Convention scheduled for December, where new members of the National Working Committee are to be elected.

 The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a kidnapped victim, killed one suspect and recovered several arms and other incriminating materials in a gun duel with hoodlums at the Amaokpala community in Aguata, Orumba Local Government Area of the state. It was learnt on Sunday that the gun duel which occurred late on Saturday lasted for over one hour before normalcy returned to the area.

 Kogi State Government has assured residents of Yagba West and surrounding communities of their safety, following heightened fears over alleged threats to churches and growing insecurity in the area. A memo reportedly signed by Kanwai James, the Divisional Police Officer of Isanlu, Yagba East, warned of “plans by criminal elements to launch an attack on churches in Yagba East, Kogi State.”

 The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has asked passengers to expect flight disruptions and delays following a Sunday morning flight incursion that occurred at the Harcourt International Airport runway. Air Peace aircraft, operating Flight P47190 from Lagos to Port Harcourt had experienced a runway excursion upon landing at the Port Harcourt Airport.

 Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission has declared the All Progressives Congress’ candidates winner of the just-concluded chairmanship elections in Badagry Local Government, Olorunda and Badagry-West LCDA. LASIEC officials declared the results late Saturday at the Local Government secretariats in Ajara, Iworo and Kankon, respectively.

 The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted rain and thunderstorms from Monday to Wednesday across the country. NiMet’s weather outlook released on Sunday in Abuja envisaged thunderstorms with moderate rains during the morning hours over parts of Yobe, Kano, Jigawa and Bauchi State. According to it, the remaining parts of the region will be sunny with patches of clouds.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced seven days of mourning to honour former President Muhammadu Buhari, who died on Sunday.
Tinubu disclosed this in a condolence message on Sunday.

Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris has vowed to sign the death warrant of any convicted informant aiding bandits within 24 hours of conviction.
The governor made the declaration during a condolence visit to Zogirma community in Bunza Local Government Area, where Lakurawa killed three police officers in a recent attack.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised fresh concerns over what it described as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “mysterious absence” following his attendance at the 2025 BRICS summit in Brazil.

According to the party, President Tinubu left public view after the summit concluded in Rio de Janeiro and did not resurface in Nigeria until the early hours of Sunday, five days later with no official communication on his whereabouts.
In a statement issued on Sunday, ADC’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the presidency owes Nigerians an explanation.

Hundreds of supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressives Congress (APC), and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Katsina on Sunday officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The move was led by Mustapha Inuwa, who heads the coalition in the state.
