Reuben Abati, popular media personality and former presidential spokesperson, has slammed Peter Obi, former Anambra State governor, over his recent remark on a one-term presidency.
In a viral video on Monday during the Arise Television programme, Abati said Obi’s vow to do one term if elected as Nigeria’s president is a sign of desperation.
He urged Nigerians to ignore any politician with a sign of desperation.

“What I am saying is that any politician that comes to you and says that I am going to do only one term, that is a sign of desperation.

“It will not work. Just like the gambit about serving food and carrying plates or doing boy-boy at parties that will be better organised by event organisers. It is also a sign of desperation; it will not work,” he said.
He added that Nigeria will progress when the Nigerian people put competence above religion, region, and other sentiments.
“If Nigerian people are politically educated to a point where they can vote for a competent person regardless of where he comes from or his religion, that’s when the country will begin to move forward.
“So, all this ‘I will do one term, I will serve you food,’ that’s not going to work,”

  2. Oga Rueben be wailing more than the bereaved there. Someone who knows his onions and what it takes to lead or govern a people will put the necessary infastructures in place to ensure continuity. Governance is a contnious process like we always chant or has it changed already ? PO does not need a 100 yrs term to prove his capability I believe.

Then on the issue of him serving food at a public function, he has clarified or he didnt get to read it ? A charity event that even the Rev Frs. Present had to serve food too. Nothing reeks of desperation there Mr R ...
