Equatorial Guinea has sentenced Baltasar Ebang Engonga, a former senior government official, to eight years in prison for embezzlement
Engonga, who previously headed the National Financial Investigation Agency, was convicted by the Bioko Provincial Tribunal for diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars meant for official travel into personal use. He was also fined $220,000.
The case gained global attention after leaked s*x tapes surfaced in late 2024, showing Engonga with the wives of other officials .
