ReplyDelete...while teachers, doctors and allied medical professionals are being owed their peanut salaries.
ReplyDeleteMillions of children are out of school, do not have free medicare and the disabled are begging in the streets in the dust, heat of the sun and rain‼️
No pipe-borne water, public housing and constant power supply ❗️
The education of those professionals was subsidized by Nigeria and they are also employed by the Nigerian state. Those professionals will work for about 3 decades, accruing a pension, salaries, gratuity, promotions, further training and ability to take their on-demand skills elsewhere. These sportsmen will play for 1 decade, maximum and will not always win. They have nothing to fall back on once the lights dim- how many ex falcons or tigresses do you know?
DeleteIt's left for private players and the professionals themselves to organise alternatives and have competitive packages for their services as engineers do and other medics have done in developing nations with medical tourism. Very few doctors who leave for the USA are working in government hospitals. Those in the UK are currently threatening strike due to low pay despite the massive taxation to fund a rabid welfare state. Better pay is secured in private clinics and those with private insurance are led to the front of the line.
Everyone knows the prospects of their career before choosing it. We could improve on the pay of other professionals but that would be at the private sector, if we are honest. There are private hospitals that pay twice the average rate or more.
Retired policemen and soldiers are protesting unpaid gratuities. Federal contractors are protesting non payment for contracts for almost a year. Nurses, doctors and teachers are threatening strike actions for poor pay. Military men and policemen are complaining about poor welfare. Yet the useless president is splurging on athletes frivolously like a madman. Useless politicians. Useless people.
