ReplyDeleteI’m into the jeans business, and we have three categories:
1. Stock Jeans
2. Stock Order Jeans
3. Order Jeans
1. Stock Jeans
These are high-quality jeans produced by clothing lines in China. After the people or companies they were made for take the quantity they want, the remaining ones are stocked in warehouses. Those are the ones our people buy. That’s why you sometimes see Stock Jeans with an arrow sticker pointing to where the jeans may have a small fault (though it’s rare to see, because many retailers remove the sticker before selling). Most of them are in good condition but some have fault, that's they were not picked.
2. Stock Order Jeans
This is when importers take a sample of Stock Jeans they like to a clothing company in China, source quality materials, and the company reproduces the same design in the exact quantity the importer wants.
3. Order Jeans
This is when an importer goes directly to a clothing company in China. The importer is given a catalogue to choose the design of jeans they like, and then it is produced for them in bulk.
In Nigeria’s markets, about 95% of jeans come from China (stock, stock-order and order), while around 4.9% come from Turkey.
Don’t believe the lie that the jeans are from the US, UK, Canada, or anywhere else. If you see jeans from the US, you might not even like them.
And if someone tells you that lie, ask them to show you the U.S (or whichever country) visa they used to travel.
It’s either China or Turkey.
If you know any importer that has a shop at Mandilas, Balogun , Onitsha main market or any major market in Nigeria that sells jeans, ask the person the country he or she get their goods from. It's either majorly China, few Turkey or nothing.

DeleteAfter COVID-19, China did not issue visas immediately, so most importers depended on Nigerians living in China to get goods, instead of traveling to buy them themselves.
Now imagine one person helping about 10 to 20 people to buy goods. The only way that would be possible was by buying stock-order in large quantities and sharing it among them.
That’s why Nigerians who lived in China during COVID-19 and were into clothing made a lot of money.
Imagine 10 to 20 importers sending money to one person to help them buy goods. That one person would then add his own profit to the price at which the clothing company sold to him.
