President Bola Tinubu on Friday described the economic hardship which followed some of his reforms as a pain from an economic surgery. He told Nigerians that the nation’s economy is recovering from crisis and thanked them for perseverance. Speaking during the coronation of Olubadan of Ibadan, he said the economy has turned the corner, there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel.



Former Governor and Senator, Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, has been crowned the 44th Olubadan of Ibadan. Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State presented the staff of office to him at the coronation ceremony at Mapo Hall.

At least five worshippers were shot dead when bandits attacked a mosque during early morning prayers in Yandoto village, Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State. The attack, which happened on Friday morning, sent a shock wave across the community.

 The Police Command in Benue has denied reports that its operatives killed a suspected armed robber, Philip Kpentuman, who died while in custody. The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Udeme Edet, said this in a statement on Friday in Makurdi. She said that the Commissioner of Police, Mr Emenari Ifeanyi, had ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of Kpentuman’s death.

The 44th Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, has made a public appeal for the creation of Ibadan State before President Bola Tinubu on Friday. Speaking after his installation and receiving the Staff of Office from Governor Seyi Makinde, the new monarch urged Tinubu to make this a reality before 2027.

China has denounced the scapegoating of the nation regarding Russia’s war in Ukraine, accusing its adversaries of shifting the blame for the crisis in Eastern Europe.
Polish Foreign Minister RadosÅ‚aw told the Foreign Affairs magazine that China is the only country that could end the conflict, but is “making money from selling dual-use and other stuff to Russia.”
On Friday, the Chinese government rejected the claim of creating the crisis, nor being a party, noting that it has been promoting peace talks being a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
“It is not China, but someone else who do not want the conflict to end and has been stoking the flames and profiteering from it,” said Foreign spokesperson Guo Jiakun.

World War III is imminent if Ukraine attacks any country under the guise of the Russian armed forces, the Foreign Ministry stated on Friday.
The spokeswoman Maria Zakharova gave the warning on her Telegram channel following the reports about Kiev’s alleged plans to stage a false flag operation.
Publications in Hungarian media outlets accuse President Volodymyr Zelensky of scheming to target locations in Romania and Poland and then put the blame on Russia.
Zakharova said Zelensky’s office was preparing its own version of the ‘Gleiwitz incident’, with the sole aim of instigating a war between Russia and NATO.
“If all this is confirmed, then we must admit: never in modern times has Europe been so close to the outbreak of World War III,” the official wrote.
