
The Federal Government has revoked the 5% excise duty imposed on telecommunications’ voice and data services. The National Orientation Agency, NOA, announced the revocation of the telecom tax on voice and data services in a statement issued on Thursday.

The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has admitted that criminals terrorising Nigerians in different parts of the country are ahead of security agencies in so many ways. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said only 14 out of 171 associations seeking registration as political parties met the requirements to proceed to the next stage. Anambra State Government is set to kickstart the construction of a new airport in Ndikelionwu, Orumba North Local Government Area of the state.
Speaking during a tour of the proposed site for the project, the Managing Director, Chinua Achebe International Cargo Airport, Engr. Martins Emeka Nwafor, noted that the visit was to identify a suitable, flyable location, where the state government can develop an airport and industrial park, associated with aerotropolis.

Kachikwu specifically stated that he knew that the INEC chairman was going to give the President ‘a big middle finger’ to show his displeasure towards the president.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Federal University Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE, chapter, has embarked on an indefinite strike over unpaid salaries.
The development was formally communicated on Thursday in a letter addressed to the institution’s Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olubunmi Shittu.
The letter, jointly signed by the branch Chairman, Dr O. A. Fagbuagun, and the Financial Secretary, Mr Ngwu Benitho, stated that the industrial action would remain in force until the affected lecturers received their outstanding salaries.

An Imo State based-journalist, publisher of First Citizen Newspaper, Ejike Ogbonna has been granted bail by a Magistrate Court sitting in Owerri with the sum of N2 million, after 30 days incarceration at Tiger base police unit on an alleged cyber crime against a government official.
Other bail conditions include the provision of a surety who must show proof of ownership of a landed property within the jurisdiction of the court and a traditional ruler to endorse the bail bond.
The Presiding Magistrate, C. J. Uzoechi, who granted the bail application of the journalist, noted that the matter is a bailable offense.
