Human rights activist Annkio Briggs has alleged that the immediate past sole administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, spent the state’s money and must account to the people.
Briggs made the allegation in an interview on Sunday Politics, a programme on Channels Television.
She said
“He (Ibok-Ete Ibas) spent our money. He has to account to the people of Rivers State, even to Nigerians, for the sake of integrity and for the sake of justice and fairness.
“Because you can’t come into a state and get hold of all their resources and funds, stay there for six months, and just walk away as if you were never there.
“He was here for six months, and within that six months, he spent our money; that’s the truth. I see no reason why people wonder why we call it our money. It’s our money''

The people of Okposi-Ukwu community in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State on Sunday staged a peaceful protest over the death of Master Ebuka Chukwu, a Senior Secondary School, SSS 2 student of Federal Government College, Okposi.
The protesters, carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Who killed Ebuka?”, “Evil people are running FGC Okposi,” and “IGP, stop the killing and bring justice,” demanded answers and government intervention.
Speaking on behalf of the community, Mr Collins Agwu expressed sadness and outrage over the killing and called for an urgent autopsy to ascertain the actual cause of Ebuka Chukwu’s death.
Agwu alleged that the deceased student was killed before being thrown into a river to cover up. He questioned why a staff member of the college, Mr Danjuma, allegedly directed Ebuka and other students to confront hoodlums on July 22, 2025
