Kaduna State Govt Warns Private Schools Against Increasing Fees Without Govt Approval...

Kaduna State government has warned private schools owners in the state against increasing their school fees without getting an approval from the Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA)

In a letter addressed to all private school proprietors in the state, the Director, Private Schools Department (PSD) Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA), Mercy Kude, said that all private Schools' proprietors/proprietresses are enjoined to strictly abide by the extant regulatory requirements on upward review of fees, especially at a time when the State Government is reducing school fees in state-owned institutions of learning.

For the avoidance of doubt, the procedure guiding increase of school fees is based on the following conditions/requirements:

- Normally, previous increment must have lasted at least 3 years.

- Express approval of the Director-General, KSSQAA is required, following an application letter requesting for permission to increase school fees by specified amount(s).

- Agreement for increment must come from the school's PTA meeting with an acceptable quorum.

-Typed minutes of the PTA meeting(s) and handwritten attendance sheet(s) must be attached to the application.

-Reason(s) for the increase of school fees must be stated in the application letter.

-Current enrollment strength per level (for each of: Pre-Basic, Lower/Middle Basic, Upper Basic and/or Post- Basic School) must be indicated in the letter.

-Both new and old school fees for all levels must be indicated on the letter of application.''
