To tackle recurring flooding in the state, operatives from the Drainage Enforcement and Compliance Department of the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, has begun demolishing structures.
The government, on Friday, September 26, began demolishing structures obstructing the free flow of stormwater along the Ikota River alignment in Lekki, Eti-Osa.
During the week, the state witnessed heavy flooding that took over many peoples homes, destroyed their properties as well the cars of commuters.

Ss long as they keep building on the old bar beach/Kuramo the water would find it's way. The Lekki buildings are not the issue.

DeleteAs painful as it is to those ppl this was the right thing to do. Get properly approved building permits before starting any construction to avoid such pains later. The extra cost of securing your permit will be worth it in comparison to losing all the money spent in building something that will be torn down and all that money going down the drain.

DeleteIn a sane environment those who gave permit for such wrong buildings should be in prison even if they are retired from government service
Delete16:36, if those permits were legitimate then they should be seeking for compensation. If the did they due diligence then it is not their fault but the planning ministry or whatever it is called for not doing their job properly.
