President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated that Nigeria is pursuing a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council to ensure fairness, inclusivity, and meaningful reforms.
Tinubu disclosed this in his speech on Wednesday at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York, United States of America.

Vice President Kasim Shattima, who was representing the president of the most populous African country noted that Nigeria is a stabilising force in regional security and a consistent partner in global peacekeeping.

“A stabilising force in regional security and a consistent partner in global peacekeeping, our case for a permanent seat at the “Security Council is a demand for fairness, for representation, and for reform that restores credibility to the very institution upon which the hope of multilateralism rests,”he said.
Shettima led the Nigerian delegation to the 80th session of UNGA.
