He revealed this during a recent interview with Channels Television.
According to him, his faith guides his career decisions and that he seeks God’s direction before taking on romantic roles.
Speaking further, Etim-Effiong explained that many Nollywood producers include kissing scenes in their films because they appeal to viewers and attract more attention.
He said the practice follows market demand, as audiences often enjoy romantic displays in movies.
He said: “The fact that I play a lot of romantic roles in the industry today means that I get to have kissing scenes sometimes. People feel it’s become one too many, but the question should go to the producers. Why are they expressing affection and intimacy only a certain way? There are several other ways you can show affection. There are downsides to everything, but when you’re a focused person, you don’t let naysayers get to you. You just focus on your business and do what you have to do.
“I get all my inspiration from God. I go on my knees and pray before I go to set and kiss. My family is my garden, then my work.
“It becomes a purpose to me, and that’s why I had the courage to quit engineering, a well-paying job, to go into storytelling. It felt like a calling. I have no problem acting and telling stories that inspire people; it’s a form of worship.”

ReplyDeletePeople that have a genuine relationship with GOD will not accept to play the kissing roles.Example of such men in Hollywood are Jim Caviezel, Neal McDonough, Pat Boone.This rejection impacted negatively on their career but obedience to GOD'S word is better than conforming to the world for temporary material gain.Yinmu to "I go on my knees and pray before I go to set and kiss".

God will never want anyone to defile their body which is his temple or break his vows to his wife by getting intimate with every female on set in the name of ART. Bro if you think there’s a difference btw the Daniel onset and the Daniel you take home to your wife then you’ve not allowed the Holyghost lead you. You’re defining success with how many roles you get and opening the door wide for the enemy to gain access to your marriage, he gives nothing for free so beware. I think you’re very talented you don’t need to smooch, kiss and be in every movie. Stop selling yourself short, pls try prove to your viewers you’ve got respect for your wife by choosing better story lines without defiling yourself you won’t die of hunger. God will take care of you.

If you truly love God, you will set your priorities straight from the onset, let the producers know that you won’t kiss anyone and after sometime, they will adjust to what you want. Immediately mercy Johnson got married, she stopped kissing roles and producers understood.

Mercy Johnson didn't need to be married to not do such scenes. You must respect your body and obey God's laws whether single or married.

ReplyDeleteNigerians are so judgemental, sometimes I just SMH. The man is a PROFESSIONAL, though I doubt if some here even know what that means! At the same time these are the same people, many of them married women, who see nothing wrong in with being examined while naked before a MALE gynaecologist!
