The scoring began with Mbuku in the 31st minute, giving DR Congo the 1-0 lead. Kakuta then doubled the advantage with a penalty in the 41st minute making it 2-0. Kakuta sealed the win with his second goal in the 60th minute to make it 3-0. This result advances DR Congo to the knockout stage.

AFCON 2025: DR Congo Beats Botswana 3-0
In Group D match at AFCON 2025, DR Congo secured a 3-0 victory over Botswana on December 30, 2025. The Leopards showcased their strength with goals from Gael Kakuta and Nathanael Mbuku.
