Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday, attributed the recent defection of the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly and 15 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the deepening internal crisis within the PDP. Speaking with journalists after inspecting ongoing road projects in Abuja, Wike said the defections reflected the level of factionalisation in the party.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has handed over N96.5 million to victims of ponzi schemes in Enugu State. Its spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, said this in a statement on Friday in Abuja. Sokoto State Police Command has arrested suspected bandit financiers and motorcycle thieves in two coordinated operations carried out on Wednesday across Sokoto and neighbouring Zamfara State. According to a statement released on Friday by the command’s spokesman, Ahmed Rufai, three men were apprehended in Tangaza Local Government Area for allegedly funding a notorious bandit group by helping them sell rustled cattle.

Gombe State Police Command on Friday announced the arrest of seven suspected members of a kidnap syndicate, the neutralisation of two others, and the recovery of a General Purpose Machine Gun during coordinated operations. In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Buhari Abdullahi, on Friday, the Command said the operation was carried out in collaboration with the Gombe State Professional Hunters Association.
