Abia State Gov Otti Signs Senior Citizens Welfare Law

Awesome!!!

Abia State Governor Alex Otti has signed the Senior Citizens Law to provide residents aged 60 and above with monthly stipends, free medical care, and ongoing social‑support services....

The law establishes eligibility and delivery frameworks but leaves out key implementation details like enrollment procedures, funding sources, and payment mechanisms—to forthcoming regulations and budget allocations...

If implemented well, this new law will definitely reduce elderly poverty which is a big concern in Nigeria.

  6. It is refreshing to see someone serious about the responsibility that they have been given.

I hate to see elderly poverty, any action allowing older adults to live with dignity is welcomed. I hope that help with getting eyeglasses, hearing aids and dentures is also included. So many cannot see well because they cannot afford eyeglasses, not because the have any eye disease.
