Pinky's CORNER

I have a friend who stays in the North. He called me some days ago to seek for  assistance. He said he wants to move away from that side before he loses his wife and children and need me to help get a two bedroom apartment in ibadan.

I agreed on the condition that, he will have to come down because, people can be funny, when you tell them prices, they will think you are trying to outsmart them or dupe them. He agreed and travelled down to Ibadan.

I let him in my place instead of him staying in the hotel.

The next day, we went to UI together to pick up my defense copy and from there we began to move around for the house.(House hunting no be keremi). We met one agent who said his inspection fee is 4k, we agreed after telling him what we wanted.
He demanded for payment before leaving his sit and also told us that, we are the ones to pay for his transport fare to the place. I said No problem (but for my mind, I don swear say, if this man carry us waka anyhow, I go collect that 4k back and it happened exactly as I predicted it in my mind).

Three of us spent 2k to the place and waited for him to open the house so we can inspect. Baba was now making different calls. I told my friend to stay put while I move round that environment to also ask if we can get an apartment there. I  met a woman and I asked if the same house we came to check is still available (she said not available, that, it has been paid for close to a week. Then I smiled).

I went back to where my friend and baba agent was. I asked baba why the delay and he said, he just called someone and the person said they just paid for the house. I asked when? He said just now. Then I replied, baba, you are not being sincere with yourself. This apartment has gone for almost a week now and you are here deceiving us.

He looked at me in disdain. I asked him if he has another place he is taking us to. He said no because he has contacted some other agent and they said two bed isn't available. So baba, what do we do? He said we should go back that, he will contact us anytime it's available (me wey don plan bad thing for am). Then I changed my mood and said, Baba, ema fun mi ni Owo ti mo ko fun yin yen(he thought I was joking).

I snatched his phone from him. No be small thing ooo. Some people came to settle the dispute. I explained what happened and they couldn't say anything. Someone even said, eyin agent yi, oye ko ma fogi mo yin ni.

I collected that money ooo and gave it back to my friend. My friend begged me that, he wants to give it back to him but i shook my head for him(though, he has been stopping me from collecting the money but I ignored his facial signs).
When we left, he was like, Lawrence, you never change ooo. Then I told him to continue giving every agent we meet 4k. He will understand later. At the end of the day, baba don spend 16k for agent, tfare no dey there oooo and we no even get wetin we want. I just dey laugh internally say, he just start.

On our way back home, I met another agent(that was around 4pm). I told him what we wanted. Then he said, he only has 2 bedroom flat with running water but none of the room is tiled. The only place tiled is the toilet(the place has only one toilet). My people, guess the price? He said rent is 600k and total package is 900k. Can you imagine. 2bed wey tiles no dey 600k tp 900k. That's ridiculously ridiculous. Na like so we just vex go back house ooooo.

That was how we spent the day. he has experienced what I needed him to experience, so that, when I later find his choice, he won't be thinking I'm trying to shoot up the price to gain anything.

Ibadan agents are just too funny and when you see where they stay, you will question their existence, and their mouth they use in calling prices. I'm pretty sure that, that 2bed that has no tiles won't be more that 250k or 300k at worse but what the hell is 900k for TP.
Oribu ti ba awon agent Ibadan ja.
Ire ooooo

Not everyone understand Yoruba, please do well to also tell us what Yoruba words you use mean please....
