US Relief Troops Numbering 200 Reportedly Land In Nigeria To Help Combat Terrorism

Reports indicate that the first batch of the 200 United States, US military personnel expected to be deployed to Nigeria to assist the nation’s forces in the ongoing counter terrorism operations have arrived.

A Sahel security expert, Brant Philip, disclosed in a post on his X handle on Sunday that the US troops will only provide training, advice, and intelligence analysis to their Nigerian counterparts.

He said the US military personnel “are also responsible for ensuring the steady delivery of ammunition and equipment to the Nigerian Army, which will likely consist primarily of munitions for the Nigerian Air Force, NAF.

“Additional U.S. Air Force transport flights are expected to continue landing at three distinct locations in Nigeria. Two of these are almost certainly the Kainji and Maiduguri Air Bases, with the latter being prioritized.
“Nigerian officials have insisted that U.S. troops deployed in Nigeria are there only to provide training, advice, and intelligence analysis”.

Three US military aircraft landed at the Nigerian Air Force base in Maiduguri, Borno State on Sunday.

  5. It's great but the West don't give free gift. There must be something in it for them. They scattered Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanistan and never resolved the issues they promised to deal with. Nigeria should play safe .

  6. I don.t know why Nigerians never ponder the ramifications of situations before celebrating. What is it to celebrate here. First off, America right now is on a path of Empire building by controlling oil as well as other resources by what ever means. 200 troops is nothing in combat terms but a good pretense for the deployment of further troops when the inevitable happens, and the establishment of a colony in the country...with the aforementioned goal in sight.
Tinubu is the first and only Nigerian president to authorize this b.s and all because of his re-election as it was obvious he had fallen out of favour with the powers that be.

    1. who are the power that be if I may ask? Is it the northerners who has continously leverage violence in other to be in relevant in power corridor? If the Obama administration had yielded to Jonathan effort to secure weapons from them then ,maybe we may have been on top of this situation by now. Because what is a country without security of lives and properties of her citizens? I think the Northerners should be ashamed of themselves if what they can add to the country is violence and destruction. And they have to be careful too, because other regions can as well decides to make the country unbearable.

  7. isn't that the concern here? The same U.S that stifled Jonathan"s efforts when the tide was obviously turning against the Jihadists and ran the narrative against Gen. Ihejirika are now the trumpeters and standard bearers against the wanton murders happening especially in the North. Do we trust their motives? I do not.
This is and always has been about resource control with them, which a lot of people wouldn't care about if not for the reputation the U.S has of abandoning the feast when the belly is full and leaving destruction and instability in their wake.
