LG Chairman Epelle Allegedly Pummels Aide After She Exposed Dilapidated School Buildings

Ahoada West Local Government Area (Rivers State) chairman, Hon. Eugene Epelle allegedly ordered that his former media aide, Minnie Ogadinma be pummelled because she exposed dilapidated school buildings which needed to be renovated.....

She was allegedly attacked after she shared photos and details showing the school's poor condition, hoping to get help for repairs.

According to her narration, the chairman visited her family home, got upset over the post which he felt damaged his image, and ordered his brother named Monday Cheta to beat her. She says that she and her mother were injured during the physical altercation which happened on Sunday March 1, 2026, She added that she was sacked from her job the same day.

The council chairman Epelle has however has denied the claims through his Chief Press Secretary. He described the visit as peaceful and mature and said any injuries were minor and happened accidentally when someone tried to intervene after she allegedly insulted him. He also pointed out that primary and secondary schools fall under the state government's control, not the local government.

There is public outcry that the matter be investigated and Rivers state Police have confirmed they are looking into the matter and have invited both sides to give statements.
