Police in Lagos State has arrested 30‑year‑old Adewale Ogunleye for allegedly selling his sister Bose Ogunleye’s one‑month‑old baby for ₦2 million.
Adewale claimed that he sold the infant to raise money for their late mother’s burial
According to reliable reports, Bose did not know about the sale initially and when she eventually discovered what had happened, she immediately reported the matter to the police, leading to her brother’s arrest.
Adewale told officers that he gave his sister ₦500,000 from the proceeds and used the remaining amount to cover burial expenses. He said hardship pushed him into the act and claimed Bose initially agreed but changed her mind afterward.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti for further investigation.
