Actor Toyin Abraham Reacts To Criticism Over Kneeling To Greet Billionaire Couple Shade And Razaq Okoya

Yoruba Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has spoken out after being criticized for kneeling to greet billionaire couple Razaq and Shade Okoya at Debola Lagos’ father’s 70th birthday.
In a viral video, Toyin was seen paying her respects by kneeling, a gesture that sparked mixed reactions online.

Reacting, she said

''I have seen the various opinions regarding the manner in which I greeted some elders at a recent event. It gives me pause to reflect on when we began to drift from our culture and traditions, to the point where kneeling as we were taught is now described as “abosi.”
I, Toyin Abraham Ajeyemi, was raised to kneel when greeting those older than me. It is a value deeply rooted in who I am, and one I will continue to uphold with pride.

As a commitment to our heritage, I will remain intentional about passing these values on to the younger generations, in order to preserve and honor our culture''

  1. Does she also greet her elderly gateman, elderly trader she buys tomatoes from like this? Or is it only when the camera is on her?

    2. Toyin Abraham is EDO NOT YORUBA and she is very manipulative; she made Funke look bad last week and now she's trying to make herself look good. Toyin, your cup is full and God will expose you soon.

    3. Make una leave Toyin, she did the right thing by kneeling down

    4. You can lead the way by doing that. It's good to know you police where she shops and who she employs. If you don't understand a culture, you can always learn. Even the eldest people in certain communities will bow to a teenager if he has a crown on his head. It is the crowned one who will show the same respect by using respectful manners of address in their speech towards those elders. Civility is complex to the simple. Even crowned kings stand in honour of colleagues they cannot bow to.

    7. Your question does not make sense. Chief Okoya is in hos 80s and one of the richest Nigerians. Na your leg she use kneel?
We see the British kneel or courtesy to greet the late Queen Elizabeth but it is okay.
When really did it become your business to judge how people live their lives?

    4. If she is not Yoruba and so what. Cant someone learn good things from others. Her husband is Yoruba, she can decide to go with her husband culture. The dragging is enough, this woman did nothing wrong. She is just a simple soul.

    2. Na Toyin day respond to nonentities. There are people who call their parents by name because they subsidize their upkeep. How else do you think they will see this situation of sorting basic respect?

  7. I am hausa, but even i and many other non yorubas know that this is not new in yoruba culture. They kneel, and depending on the circumstance sef, they dobale. Hope i got the spelling

    1. You are very correct with the spelling, Yoruba culture is strange to some and some are just pretending not to understand our culture despite the yes they have lived in Yoruba land and for some they are just picking side and fault in everything because she is loved

  8. Someone with her knees again, it's well. Live and let live, let her kneel for whoever she chooses or pleases, her intentions are best known to her, as long as she gets desired results. That's how Israel DMW was bullied by most people for always lying down for his younger boss, who didn't ask for it. If God is using someone to impact your life or in respect to their office, if you can, no sign of honor is too much.

  9. It's her choice. Whether it's hypocritical or not. She's not hurting anyone. 🙄🙄🙄

  11. I don’t understand the fuss about her kneeling to greet an elder statesman and his wife. When it’s your turn, extend your hand to the Okoya’s for a handshake.

  12. What i have realized is that when people don't like you, there's nothing you do that they won't find fault with.
Toyin is not loved online and that's it.
If an internet fave does this, there'll be no questions asked whatsoever.
She better stop explaining every market day and just do whatever it is she wants to do.

  13. She is from that place they used to sell witchcraft, lol, weird but true. She's an auchi woman edo

Your haters can go to he!l or look for the nearest lago*n

  15. Toyin should stop explaining to Funke supporters, they will always find faults with whatever she does. We’ve seen her greet people this way. She is an easy going person and relates with people humbly. Her type doesn’t hold on to grudges for long.

  16. U dey greet dat old gate man for ur area like dat?
