Speaking at the ADC National Convention in Abuja, the former Minister of Interior criticised the current administration over worsening insecurity, economic hardship, and what he described as failed promises.
He said the naira’s sharp depreciation, rising fuel prices, and widespread hardship show that the government has mismanaged the economy.
Aregbesola also faulted the state of electricity supply, claiming many communities now receive only a few hours of power daily, while others remain in darkness for weeks. He accused the APC of normalising “criminality” in the electoral system and undermining democratic principles.
On security, he pointed to the rising wave of violent attacks nationwide as evidence of leadership failure.
He argued that after failing to improve power supply as promised, an “honest president” should step down rather than seek re‑election. According to him, the government keeps offering “renewed hope” three years into its term without delivering results.
Aregbesola further raised concerns about increasing poverty and the growing number of out‑of‑school children. Positioning the ADC as an alternative, he said the party is on a “rescue mission” and urged Nigerians not to remain neutral, warning that silence amounts to complicity.
