TEACHER LIFE
Exams have been ongoing, and I’ve found myself thinking…
When I was in kindergarten, it was not this serious oh.
Recently, my mum showed me my old kindergarten books, and I was honestly shocked. The gap between what we did then and what children are doing now? Wide.
Children in my class — KG2, just 3–4 years old are: Counting from 0–300
Writing about themselves, creative writing, Identifying 2D and 3D shapes
Identifying different shades of colours. Grasping science concepts I didn’t meet until secondary school
And I keep asking myself… Is this not too much?
At some point, I even complained to the Headmistress.
She just smiled and said,
“It’s still parents that will complain if we don’t. They will compare with friends, neighbours, relatives and come back to complain.”
And she’s right.
These days, learning has quietly become a competition.
“My child can read already.”
“My child knows multiplication.”
“My child is ahead.”
Ahead of who exactly?
Sometimes I wonder if it’s about genuine development… or subtle bragging rights.
Don’t get me wrong children are capable. Their brains are incredible at that age. They can absorb so much when guided properly.
But early years education was never meant to be a race.
It was meant to be a foundation.
A place for: Play, Exploration ,Curiosity ,Social development and Emotional growth
but now it’s starting to feel like performance.
And the truth is, when we rush children through learning, we risk skipping the very skills that actually sustain them later patience, creativity, problem-solving, confidence.
Yes, children can do more now but the real question is:
Should they be doing this much, this soon?
Because sometimes, in our rush to raise “smart” children…
we forget to raise well-grounded ones.
And honestly? I still feel it’s too much.

You are complaining what that level is doing? Here in Germany their Secondary school students can confidently compete with the level of students in Nigerian Universities..I dont think any learning is too much...

Raising smart kids is far better than raising the ones who do not know and spend their whole time on the Internet trolling

NOTORIOUS FOR JESUS
Earlier today, I went to the market and sat as my seller's shade, waiting for wheelbarrow, there, I heard a story from one of the women that left me completely stunned.
She told me that since January, when her housemaid returned from the Christmas holiday, the girl had come back with a completely different attitude. The first thing she noticed was that the maid had done microblading on her eyebrows. 

At first, she thought that was all, but she soon realized it wasn’t.

Not long after, the maid started wearing crop tops that exposed her stomach and bum shorts around the house. The woman said she wasn’t comfortable with that, especially because there was a man in the house, so she warned the girl about it. But the maid said she is an adult.
That response didn’t sit well with her. She reminded the girl that she was living in someone else’s house and was there to work, not to show off fashion. From then on, she began to feel that the girl’s attitude was changing more and more.

Soon, the maid also started wearing makeup regularly. At that point, the woman said she decided she had had enough. She concluded it was best for the girl to leave because it seemed like this “adult mentality” had already gotten into her head. The plan was for the maid to collect her salary and leave by the 23rd of the month.
But something shocking happened.
The woman said she went into the maid’s room to ask her to bring out all the makeup and the bum shorts because she had bought new clothes to replace the crop tops and shorts. The girl wasn’t expecting her. She asked the maid to bring out her bag so they could sort through the clothes together.
As the girl began bringing out the clothes, something at the bottom of the bag caught her attention. It looked like a photograph. The maid tried to hide it, but she insisted on seeing it.
When she finally looked at it, she was shocked.
It was her own picture , one she had taken years ago and kept in her personal album. Even more disturbing, her full name had been written on the back of the picture seven times.
She told me she is still in shock. 

She has asked the maid several times what she was doing with her photograph, but the girl has refused to say anything. Her husband suggested they should simply let the maid leave the next day, but she said no. 

According to her, the matter is too serious to ignore, and she believes the girl should be questioned until she explains exactly why she had that picture. They have involved police and she will be going to the station once she left the market. Biko, things dey occur.

Hmmmmm she probably has eyes for the man of the house otherwise wetin the woman do her?Husband wey don turn second hand na em she wan snatch?SMH

Because at the end of the day, what truly matters is not how the baby came —
