The ADC, led by David Mark, accused Amupitan of partisanship after INEC removed the names of some party leaders from its portal, a move the Commission said was simply compliance with a Court of Appeal judgment.
In a statement by the Chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Adedayo Oketola, INEC noted that while stakeholders are free to express their views, the Chairman’s appointment and removal are governed strictly by Section 157 of the 1999 Constitution, meaning political pressure cannot determine his exit.

It's now Inec vs Nigerians
ReplyDeleteADC fighting a lost battle. Dey brought the affliction up on themselves
DeleteNafiu dragged David Mark to the Federal High Court, seeking an ex parte order.
ReplyDeleteThe judge didn’t grant it outright, instead, he asked Mark to come and show cause why the request shouldn’t be approved.
Rather than argue it there, Mark went to the Court of Appeal. The appellate court was clear: go back to the Federal High Court and argue your case.
More importantly, the Court of Appeal cautioned Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to take any action that could render the pending suit useless. In simple terms "dont recognize anybody".
No Mark. No Nafiu. No faction.
Until the court settles the leadership tussle, there is officially no recognized leadership.
INEC didn’t pick sides; they simply obeyed the court.
Thanks for this clear, concise explanation of the situation. It's difficult to know who is lazier- the Nigerian on air personalities playing journalists or the people eating up their undone propaganda.
