Movie Producer Olaide Olabanji Says Actor Mercy Aigbe Cut Him Off Despite Helping Launch Her Career

Nollywood actor and movie producer Olaide Olabanji has opened up about his role in helping actress Mercy Aigbe enter the movie industry, and recalled that he discovered her in a shop in 2004, asked if she could act, and gave her an opportunity that helped launch her career.

In a recent interview, he said he supported her early steps in the industry but now feels hurt because she has allegedly blocked him on social media and behaves as though he no longer exists.

Olaide described her attitude as unkind, saying it reflects how some people “change once they become successful” and forget those who stood by them at the beginning.

  2. Have you asked her directly? Sometimes people may not know that you need help until you ask .

  4. Guy, people complained years ago of your casting couch practice to the point of locking younger female actors in hotel rooms alone till you got your due. Which God fearing person will look back to help you? Which of the PTSD survivors will offer assistance? If you didn't lock the men up, reach out to them for help and don't assume they'll also be on board with such wickedness.

  6. I don't know what is with Nigerians and the "i helped you" syndrome. In this life , someone must help someone. All of us are the beneficiaries of help in one way or another. That you helped or assisted me does not make me beholden to you forever or is it that he wants a share of her income. When he helped her, did she not work. Just because you gave someone a platform does nit make you God in or over their lives

  7. Mercy is not a child and definitely has her personal reason for her decision. Most of your kind think because God used them to direct people to their destiny or assist them directly and indirectly, they owe you and owe you for life. We are all destiny helpers and also need others to help us one way or the other. It is not man that rewards, it is God and God alone that helps, and can touch even an ass, mad man or normal person to help anybody. And in his ways, where help comes from is not from where we hope it would come. Let Mercy be. She has paid her dues, horned her craft and stepped up. You go and fight for your life like her too. Some of you men in that industry abused and still abuse so many ladies who have become stars or are rising today. I know some guys who were sound and good producers but allowed their penis dictate to them. These girls gave themselves 'willingly; to them, but today, those men are down trodden, forgotten and forsaken while those girls whom you thought you were satisfying your 'powerful' lusts on have gone on to do very well for themselves. Henry, Bimbo's fiance who should be a great director in the industry used to boast "ร try, I try, I try" each time he confidently reeled out the names of these notable beautiful ladies he bedded before giving them a chance in the movies he was directing or producing. But where Henry dey today, who know or remember him in Nollywood today? Even his over obsessed fiancee later left him to leech on married men despite having a baby together. What of his elder brother that dried up like stockfish because of pride and from knowing he made one of our former... he claimed he was her first man? Where is George today, the one who proudly dated one of our most celebrated stars residing abroad now, can he even qualify to be her gateman or loose her shoes? Which one we want to talk or leave? These ladies are not dumb, they know they had to do what they had to do for a season to get to their destination and they did. And you still want to attach yourself to them afterwards? Oga, take a thousand steps backward, una plenty for everywhere and una still no want to learn say woman body na ALTAR that can make or mar and some altar get better grade- you take, you pay with your destiny while they shine on. Also, respect that she is married and step back please. Is she a saint, no! Just leave Mercy alone to shine and shine on.

If they slept with you and got the role, then dues have been paid. You move on.
