The Federal Government of Nigeria says it has disbursed about N688 billion to support poor households across Nigeria through the HOPE‑CT (Household Prosperity and Empowerment Cash Transfer) programme.
Announcing the update in Abuja, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, said the initiative, launched in November 2023, was designed to cushion economic hardship and help families afford food, healthcare and education.
So far, 9.17 million households have received at least the first payment of N75,000, delivered in three instalments of N25,000 each, while 7.2 million have collected the second tranche and 6.5 million the third. Women account for 58.7% of beneficiaries, and the government aims to reach 15 million vulnerable households in total.
Payments are made only to individuals verified through the National Social Register using NIN or BVN, with funding sourced from an $800 million World Bank loan. Dr Doro said the transfers are ongoing nationwide and targeted strictly at families who genuinely need support.

They always disburse, but I have never heard anyone say they benefited from it. ๐
ReplyDeleteE reach to ask which home oh. FromJoro to joro kinda.
ReplyDeleteSome family here receive 25k for six months each o!
ReplyDeleteOk. And the 25k they received for 6 months bettered their living condition abi?
DeleteWenti you want make I talk?
DeleteBut you know even though they give us 1 million each will not solve anything or go anywhere.
So N75k instalments of N25k is the strategy for household prosperity and empowerment. God punish you people indeed.
ReplyDeleteHow much are you giving? How much are you paying in taxes that you want government to raise welfare millionaires? How much do staff get paid among those in the informal sector who will benefit from the money? This is 50 percent of what many earn a month as a family of 4.
DeleteIf it wasn't confirmed that people truly poor, not those who just beg online received, it would have been the same pessimism. Even dangote was distributing 10k to women for petty trading and had a big launch for it.
How much did Obi give struggling families who are not shameless beggars on the internet? What programme did Atiku's government have for them?
