The Founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has halted the marriage plans of his 21‑year‑old adopted autistic daughter, Chiemeka Chibuzor, after receiving over 1,000 applications from interested suitors.
In a Facebook announcement on Thursday, the pastor declared the process suspended until further notice, writing:
“Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended.
More than a thousand applications. No more wedding, pending further directive from me.”
Earlier in the week, Apostle Chinyere had publicly offered a marriage package that included:
-Lifetime financial support
-Free housing for life
-A jointly built property in both spouses’ names
-Regular unannounced welfare checks by OPM staff
-A requirement that the suitor must be young, physically and mentally fit
The incentives triggered a massive wave of interest, prompting the pastor to pause the entire process for reassessment.

Why I'm I not surprised, most Nigerian men are very lazy, and are more of an opportunist than women. Some are just extremely wicked among them. I wouldn't be surprised some married men, bisexuals are among the applicants.

Take away the incentives, will any man wants to marry her? I think none. This is the issue. Transaction relationship and marriage. I blame the pastor who started all this in the first instance. Why attached incentives as a condition? A man that can sleep with mad women that are dirty or even with a corpse just to have access to money won't see this as anything.
ReplyDeleteThe truth is that any man that marries her won't be proud to flaunt her publicly. Such a man will have another woman outside. Must everyone get married? Why forced people into marriage they're not mentally strong to handle? So shameful on all those applying. If they were financially okay, would they have indicated interest.
I have seen men married blind women, disabled, deaf and dumb but it was from a place of love at least the ones I know. But this right here is nothing but transactional and imposed marriage. It won't go well.

What the pastor is doing is evil. This lady may not even be aware she is getting married, lacks the presence and functionality of mind enough to show emotions and understand emotions shown her and has no business getting married. ReplyDeleteThe man himself is a fool, i think we should have agency that can call this man to order. Because there is no sense in what he is doing at all. There is what we call abuse and manipulation of process. Very evil person. If you have ever come across an autistic person, you will feel genuine pain in your heart for them, I mean they got talents that are trapped within them,making them reliant on others to live their lives. Those are not the kind of people to exploit or take advantage of.

Shoplifting has become the norm in most western countries. What is wrong with us?You better remove poverty mentality from your life,think clearly with objectives and find something doing however small.

Please before you judge, try know more... I took my time to research on this and I do not criticise him. Let the government come take over the responsibilities. These children were rejected by their parents, many times thrown away and left to die, before people bring them to him. They have stayed many years with him and when he crys out like this, it means, he's at his peak and don't know which way forward again. someone else can take up the batten, instead of cursing his acts of kindness. He's doing THE BEST HE THINKS HE KNOWS. HE'S NOT THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNTRY . Let him breathe.

ReplyDeleteIf these children were dropped on the church’s doorsteps and abandoned by their parents like one BV stated then I commend him for seeing to their care into adulthood.
ReplyDeleteI still don’t think this approach is correct. It is obvious that social services and group homes/assisted living facilities are needed. The government has work to do and I hope they start looking at the needs of those living with disabilities. Too busy in corruption to get real work done. If the ‘husband’ and pastor should pass away who will care for her? If the husband abandons her and the pastor is not alive who will care for her? Does she know how to use a telephone or where to go for help? I pray these young adults have the life skills necessary to navigate the world if they should find themselves unsupervised.
With these developments...... more folks are going to dump more children at his doorsteps knowing they will be catered for..... he should build more accommodation for them
