At Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau, Bauchi State, the President opened a new Students’ Hostel, completed under the 2024 Annual Intervention at a cost of ₦738.9 million. The facility will ease accommodation pressure on the growing campus population.
Speaking during the nationwide commissioning, President Tinubu said tertiary institutions remain central to his administration’s strategy for closing Nigeria’s skills gap.
“When you build a classroom, you build a generation,” he said, adding that investments in colleges of education, polytechnics and universities will shape the quality of Nigerian schoolchildren for decades.
He also reaffirmed support for the Nigerian Defence Academy and the country’s polytechnics, describing them as vital to national security and technical manpower development.
Tinubu commended the Minister of Education, TETFund leadership, contractors and institutional managements for delivering the projects on schedule. He urged staff and students to maintain the facilities to the highest standards.
The commissionings form part of the federal government’s ongoing investment in tertiary education infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda, in partnership with TETFund and state governments.
