The beneficiaries, classified as low risk and minor associates, graduated from a three month programme at the Hajj Camp in Maiduguri where they received psychological counselling, religious reorientation, vocational training, and community reintegration preparation.
According to Brigadier General Abdullahi Ishaq, retired, the reintegration marks another milestone in the state’s non kinetic approach to ending insurgency. He revealed that the programme has processed more than 350,000 individuals including fighters, women, and children who surrendered voluntarily.
The 720 men were reintegrated along with 992 wives and 2,050 children, all of whom took an oath on the Quran to live peacefully and obey the laws of the land.
The state also provided starter packs to help them begin new lives in carpentry, metalwork, tailoring, solar installation, catering, knitting, and other trades learned during rehabilitation.
Officials say the initiative aims to reduce the appeal of insurgency, rebuild trust, and support long term peace in communities still recovering from years of conflict.
