Osun State police command on Thursday said it has launched a probe into the attack on the Accord chairman for Osogbo Local Government Area, Asimiyu Ajibola, which left him battling for life at the Osun State University Teaching Hospital, Osogbo. The command, in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, said the incident occurred on Wednesday in the MDS Area of Osogbo, when two armed men riding on a motorcycle attacked the victim in an apparent attempt at murder.

Gunmen in the early hours of Thursday attacked Paze community around the Byazhin area of Kubwa in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, killing a local vigilante and abducting four residents, including a pastor. The attackers, said to be about eight in number, reportedly shot dead a security guard, Shuaibu Yerima, who was engaged to protect the neighbourhood popularly known as “Back of Catholic Church.”

Tension has again gripped residents of the Byazhin Across area of Kubwa in the Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, following a fresh kidnapping incident that left a local vigilante member dead and four residents abducted.
The gunmen stormed the community behind the Catholic Church area around 1:00 a.m. on Thursday , June 4, firing several gunshots as residents panicked for safety.
Sources in the area said the attackers invaded several houses during the operation and abducted four residents, including an 11year old child.
Residents told our correspondent that a local vigilante member who sustained gunshot injuries during the attack was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, the gunmen also carted away food items from some of the affected homes before fleeing the area.
