The Commissioner for Information, Dr. Malachy Agbo, says that there was no attack anywhere in Awgu, and residents in the area went about their normal activities without any disturbance.
The government said the circulating video and accompanying claims were misleading content pushed by individuals bent on creating fear and tension in the state.
The Enugu State Police Command also confirmed that no such incident occurred, and stressed that their surveillance and intelligence reports showed no breach of peace in Awgu or surrounding communities.
Authorities warned that those spreading fake news to destabilize the state would face legal consequences, and urged the public to rely on verified information rather than panic‑inducing social‑media posts.
