Nigerian Army Reportedly Rescue Wounded Wife Of Rtd Gen. Who Died In Bandits Den

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued Mrs. Abubakar, wife of retired Major‑General Rabe Abubakar, after a fierce encounter with armed bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The rescue followed a series of intelligence‑driven offensives launched under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III after her abduction.
During the search‑and‑rescue mission, troops made contact with the bandits at Tunga village, forcing the armed group to flee under heavy military pressure. In the heat of the confrontation, the bandits shot Mrs. Abubakar before abandoning her as soldiers closed in. She was immediately given first aid by the troops and moved for urgent medical attention.

The successful rescue comes just days after the tragic death of her husband, retired Major‑General Rabe Abubakar, who died in bandits’ captivity after they were kidnapped on May 30, 2026.

The same intelligence-driven offensives launched under Operation CLEAN SWEEP III should also be carried out to rescue the schoolchildren and teachers of Oyo State.
