Teachers marched with placards reading “Bring Back Our Children,” “Stop Attacks on Schools,” and “Protect Education.”
The union said it could no longer watch students being abducted, displaced, or forced out of school due to repeated attacks on learning centres. It warned that fear among teachers, parents, and pupils is threatening the future of education in Nigeria.
According to the NUT leadership, kidnappings, school invasions, and violence against teachers have made the protest necessary. They demanded the immediate rescue of abducted children, stronger security in vulnerable schools, full implementation of the Safe Schools Initiative, and protection for teachers.
The union warned that without urgent action, thousands of children may permanently drop out of school.
The protest ended peacefully, with a petition submitted to the Lagos State Government.
