Rapper Ycee Says Nigerians Are ''Olodo Uprising''Over Academic Excellence
Rapper Ycee says Nigerian youth are abandoning academic excellence for what he calls “Peller culture” , a trend that rewards quick fame, shallow content, and low standards.
Speaking in a podcast interview, Ycee said the country no longer celebrates good grades or hard work in school. Instead, society now applauds ignorance, creating what he described as an “olodo uprising” where people try to make uneducated behaviour look normal so no one feels embarrassed.
He added that beyond physical threats to education like kidnappings and attacks by groups such as Boko Haram , Nigeria is now facing a cultural attack. According to him, many young people no longer see value in books because social media fame and fast money appear more attractive.
I don't think it is a phenomenon exclusive to Nigeria. We have Trump supporters in the US and Brexit supporters in the UK after all. High propensity lowest common denominator voters are an increasing issue worldwide.
People who have made ignorance profitable. The media, the blogs and the internet all capitalise on this. The people are being given a steady stream of dopamine hits while being encouraged not to think. We see it in BB9JA and every reality TV show out there. Even here on the blog, check what draws traffic.
This shocking rise of anti-intellectualism poses a grave threat to this country. Take a look at the JAMB approved cut off marks for this year and weep.
For your info I support Trump and a Brexitier and there are many like me who are not olodos, keep believing your brain-washing leftie woke media at your detriment! I say no to Global reconditioning and the estabilishment and no! I am no conspiracy theorist!
Where leadership is not visionary and accountable, the country went to the jackals.
The watering down of education and all other sector started with the I.Bee.Bee administration. Tertiary education saw the rise in cultism, erosion of the cohesion in student unions, arrears of lecturers salaries indirectly weakening ASUU and the list is endless.
In a rapidly developing world, the country has dropped far below the caveman era.
He didn't lie. I started reading about him on this blog and what have read so far, proves his dumb. All the stupid content they create that you can't learn from. 🙄
