Senate President Akpabio Tells Security Agencies To “Track And Arrest Kidnappers Flaunting Ransom Money Online”

Senate President Godswill Akpabio has criticised Nigeria’s security agencies for failing to track and arrest kidnappers and bandits who boldly flaunt ransom money on social media.

Speaking during a tense Senate session on the country’s worsening insecurity, Akpabio said it was shocking that criminals now post videos of themselves displaying huge bundles of cash collected from victims, behaving as though the government is powerless.

He questioned why the DSS and cybercrime units have not used these online posts to trace and apprehend the perpetrators, describing the trend as a dangerous show of impunity and a direct insult to the Nigerian state.

The Senate directed security agencies including the police, DSS and cybercrime departments to immediately identify, track and arrest anyone involved in flaunting ransom money online.

    1. I don't even know if the leaders lack wisdom. How can I give kidnappers a clue of what I am about to do?

  5. From banks to network providers they have failed Nigerians. In the country where i am resident if a strange money hit your account that's different from your wages and the money is unusually big, your account will be locked and you have to prove where you get the money. And network providers has access to data which could help monitor these people but all of them failed. Especially Nigeria Bankers are complicit in the momenumetous corruption going on in Nigeria. I am so sorry for our society because we are ignorant and wicked.

    1. I don't think the kidnappers collect the ransom through banks. It's cash.
