Teacher Succumbs To Her Injuries After Family Of Pupil She Flogged Retaliated

A quiet community in Olamoboro Local Government Area of Kogi State has been thrown into mourning after the tragic death of Mariam Usman, a teacher at Brains Mind School, Ugbamaka Igah.
Her family claims that her death was caused by the family of one of her pupils whom she punished for misbehaving in class.

The incident began on June 17, 2026, when Mariam disciplined the pupil, but the child’s parents and uncle allegedly stormed the school later that evening and again the next day to confront her. According to her elder brother, as Mariam was on her way to the mosque for prayers, they blocked her path and beat her mercilessly, stripping her naked in full view of the community , an act he described as cruel and humiliating.

Mariam succumbed to her injuries on June 25, 2026, leaving her family and colleagues shattered and demanding justice for the teacher whose only crime was trying to instill discipline in her classroom.

  10. May her soul rest in peace. It's a pity she has to lose her for doing her job.

Same thing happened in a school I taught last year at Ijaiye Lagos. A parent came to school during assembly time in the morning.

  11. The way they handled the situation shows that they are not disciplined even as adults. So why won't the child misbehave in school?
RIP to the teacher. May justice be served accordingly.
