BEST ADVICE

When you reconnect with an old acquaintance, no matter what you may be going through, resist the urge to immediately start asking for money, especially when you were never really close to the person in the first place.
It is disturbing how some people suddenly remember someone they have not spoken to in 20 years because Facebook suggested the profile to them, and the very first conversation is a request for financial help. No effort to reconnect. No genuine conversation. Just straight to the problem.
Control yourself. Have some dignity.
The truth is that the person asking this money will most likely continue with their life whether they get the help or not but will come at you with the ferociousness of a dying person.
So why reduce every reconnection to an emergency appeal?
Even worse are the people who never reach out unless they need something. Once the problem is solved, they disappear again until the next crisis. No relationship. No consistency. Just opportunistic communication.
At some point, we need to learn shame and basic human consideration.

WIERD FACTS

-----Octopuses have copper-based blood instead of iron-based blood, which is why their blood is blue rather than red.

----In the silence of your actions, your character speaks the loudest.

-----Silence is often better than unnecessary drama.

-----A new high school opening in Fall 2026 plans to charge $150,000 a year, but it comes with a catch.
Students at Founders School will be expected to build real businesses while they’re still in school.
The school advertises this promise:
Generate $1 million in profit by graduation… or, for eligible freshmen who complete the four-year program and meet its terms, get your tuition refunded.
Students will use AI-assisted learning for their academics and focus heavily on entrepreneurship and company building.

-----In 1947, Ruth Hensinger wore a wedding dress made from the nylon parachute that had saved her future husband’s life during World War II. Maj. Claude Hensinger, a B-29 pilot, bailed out over China after his aircraft developed an engine fire while returning from a raid over Yawata, Japan, in August 1944. He used the parachute as a pillow and blanket while awaiting rescue and kept it afterward.
In 1947, Claude gave Ruth the parachute material and suggested she make a wedding gown from it. Ruth designed the dress, drawing inspiration from a store-window gown based on one in the movie Gone with the Wind. She made the skirt herself by drawing up the parachute cords to form poufs and create a train, while a local seamstress, Hilda Buck, made the bodice and veil.
The couple married on July 19, 1947. The dress is now preserved in the collection of the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.

Interesting Story

IF YOUR WIFE IS DOING ALL THE SCHOOL RUNS WHILE YOU ARE PRESSING PHONE AT HOME, YOU ARE NOT A FATHER. YOU ARE ANOTHER CHILD SHE IS RAISING.
While I was in Naija, I was a jealous father. I participated 100% in the affairs of my children. I did school runs and pickups anytime I was available. My children's teachers are here reading this and even some of my neighbours can testify to it. Back then, whenever I did those things in Nigeria, I used to feel odd. In many mornings, you would hardly see up to 5 men doing school runs in the entire school. During PTA meetings, same thing. I never missed a single PTA meetings till I left Bongo. yet most times you would not see up to 10 men there. What made it more shocking was that many of the men whose children attended the same school i kkow them, they were not even leaving home early for work. Some of them had more flexible schedules than I did. I was busier than many of them, yet you would never see them at school gates.

Then I moved abroad. And my eyes opened. Some mornings, there are more men than women doing school runs. Other mornings, the numbers are almost equal. I know grandfathers here who regularly take their grandchildren to school. Grandpa. Meanwhile, in Nigeria, where many fathers have never done a school run in their lives, is it grandfathers you expect to be doing it?
This should tell you how deeply patriarchy has eaten into our society.

A woman wakes up first. She bathes the children. Dresses them. Prepares breakfast. Packs lunch. Gets everybody ready. Then she is still expected to do the school drop-off and the pickup. Meanwhile, some men are sitting at home pressing their phones. Some are chatting. Some are already at the beer parlour or ogogoro joint before 9am. And society calls this normal. No. It is not normal. It is wickedness.
Women, from today, wake him up too. Except he is genuinely leaving early for work, wake him up. As you are doing one thing, let him do another. As you prepare breakfast, let him dress the children. As you pack bags, let him handle the school run. These are his children too. You did not marry to die under labour. You are a human being too.

And please stop letting men act as if bringing money into the house excuses them from parenting. If he says he funds the house alone, remind him that you carried the pregnancy alone. Remind him that he did not carry the baby for nine months. Remind him that childbirth was not shared fifty-fifty.
If he cannot participate in raising his own children, then he should not be demanding more children until he is ready to participate fully.
Let us call it what it is. That mentality is not leadership. It is not culture. It is not tradition
It is patriarchy. It is misogyny. And it is wickedness.

  5. I don't get how raising kids is the woman's responsibilty. It takes two to conceive a child. The woman wakes up in the morning, gets them ready for school, packs their lunch bags, takes them to school, does homework with them. When the man does it, it is seen as helping the woman, on top your own children 🙄. Kudos to the women that do this on their own.

  14. I have been reading the several stories of brutal assault that women have been going through in the hands of men.
    Brutal.
Beaten and wounded as fighting with a wild animal.
Meanwhile the man has no single scratch.
    I laugh.

Because Nigerian women will never understand this: Nigerian men's hatred for women is more than their love for their fellow men.

    Read it again.
    Read it again very slowly.
    It still won't sink.
    It can never stink.

I said it 10 YEARS AGO.
I STAND BY THIS TODAY AND FOREVER.

Meanwhile, back to back heavy rainfall overnight and even into this early morning in my area has made the weather very cold, chill, and cozy. 🥶

Shout out to EKA JOY. She is one person I have always given my personal accolades to without mentioning it. She doesn’t go looking for trouble unless trouble comes looking for her. The same can be said for a few others here too. 👏

That “best advice” post is nothing but the truth. When you are the one being asked for help, no matter how reasonable you try to be because times are hard for everyone, you still can’t help but feel some type of way about it.

That new high school opening in Fall 2026 is already a gold mine. Allowing A.I. learning and also offering such a promising incentive while promoting it worldwide makes it a win-win situation for both the school and the students who eventually come out on top.

Finally, that interesting story is nothing but the truth. In most cases, women spend more time caring for the children, attending PTA meetings, and handling many day-to-day parenting responsibilities.

Many men, through no fault of their own, are often pushed into the role of sole provider. Sometimes their absence is even normalized or excused with statements like, “If I don’t bring the money, will you?” or “You play your role and let me play mine.”

Then people wonder why Mother’s Day celebrations often outnumber Father’s Day celebrations by such a huge margin, something we continue to see year after year.

I don't like to waste food so let me share this quick rice meal I make with minimal budget and it's nutritional 🍽️

    Quick Vegetables stir fried rice.

You can make this with left over cooked rice you have in the fridge & some vegetables 🧅🌶️

    Ingredients

    Cooked rice
    Sausages
Already cut red & green bell peppers, carrots, onions, with small atarodo and sweet corn 🌽
Ginger & garlic powder, curry powder, paprika powder, chicken seasoning cubes, thyme & salt.
    Vegetable oil
    Soy sauce (optional)
    Water 💦

    To cook:

Cut chicken sausages into small sizes
Fry in hot oil, when it's well cooked, remove into a dish.
Fry cut onions & atarodo in same oil. Add ginger & garlic powder, curry powder & thyme with a little paprika powder (optional) You can make use of freshly grated ginger & garlic ( I use ginger powder as I dry them myself incase of ginger scarcity) 😊
Stir a little, then add the cut vegetables, stir fry, then add the soy sauce, little water, stir and add the sausages. Stir a little more.
Pour cooked rice into a pan, add the stir fried mix on top, toss & stir rice well with the vegetables. If rice is still hard, add little water, turn down cooker to low heat and allow to simmer for like 5 to 12 minutes. When it ready, bring down from cooker. You can serve with a chilled glass of juice or zobo drink 🍹

    Good afternoon beautiful people 😍

And so nawe and the Akara dey gaze at each other throughout the day.

After that you heat up your corn in the pan and set it aside,in the same pot cook up the marinated chicken until it is soft and juicy
After that you mix up the corn , bell pepper, onoin and cheese and the chicken and mix it up very well and serve it.

  31. Hello beautiful people 😍
Hape your day is going perfectly well
Mine isn't.. My phone screen got broken by one of my pupils
    I am so weak
    Anyway we move...
So let's make coconut jollof Rice
    Ingredients
    Rice
    Coconut juice
    Coconut oil
Protein of your choice, I ll use fresh Titus fish
    Crayfish optional
    Seasoning
    Pepper
    Salt
    Onions

It's quite easy to make and always bangs
In a clean pot on fire, add your coconut oil, it's optional though, you can use normal vegetable oil
Add your chopped onions and roughly blended peppers, no tomatoes please
    Fry until translucent
Season to your taste( which means that you can add Ginger, garlic Curry, thyme etc)
But I prefer minimal spices because coconut jollof rice does need much paparazzi
Add your blended crayfish, allow to cook for some minutes
Then add the already extracted coconut juice
Allow to boil, then add your already washed rice and Titus fish ( you can choose to boil your fish first or just add it when you add the rice. Both ways is perfect)
Adjust your seasoning, cover your pot and let it cook until the rice is soft to your satisfaction
You can garnish with bell peppers, carrots and peas to make it more enticing
    Serve hot with chilled drink
Try it this weekend and thank me later
    Enjoy

  41. This is a delicious meal from the South-South Nigeria

This is seafood Banga-Bitterleaf soup serve with starch at 20k budget_

    Ingredients for 20k

    For the Starch
Cassava starch 3kg = 1,500 naira. Special “non-stick pot” starch.
Palm fruit extract 2 liters = 2,000 naira. Fresh banga, not that watery one.
Overripe plantain 10 fingers = 1,500 naira. We’ll mash it inside the starch for sweetness.

    For the Soup
Bitterleaf 2 big wraps = 1,000 naira. Must squeeze and wash 10 times, no bitterness left.
Fresh catfish 2kg = 4,000 naira. catfish, fat and fresh.
Periwinkle 3kg = 2,500 naira. With shells, for proper crunch.
    Kpomo + shaki mix 1.5kg = 2,000 naira. Cooked soft-soft.
    Native salt + potash 500g = 500 naira.
Fresh pepper, onions, scent leaf, basil = 1,000 naira.

    For Toppings
Fresh prawns 1kg = 2,500 naira. Big ones, head and all.
Smoked bush meat 500g = 1,000 naira. Red oil extra 1 liter = 500 naira.

    Total = 20,000 naira

How to Cook seafood Banga-Bitterleaf soup served with stsfvh.

Step 1: Make Starch. Boil water with small native salt. Mix cassava starch with cold water, then pour into boiling water. Add mashed overripe plantain while stirring. Stir 25 mins until it turns yellow-gold from the banga extract. It should be soft but stretchy.

Step 2: Cook the Soup. Boil palm fruit extract until oil comes out. Add native salt and potash. Throw in kpomo and shaki first because they’re stubborn. Cook 1 hour. Add catfish pieces and prawns. Let it simmer 20 mins. Then add washed bitterleaf and periwinkle. Add scent leaf and basil last .Cook 30 mins more on low fire until soup is thick and oil is floating.

Step 3: Mould the Starch into a big ball and put the seafood Banga-Bitterleaf soup. Arrange catfish, prawns, and bush meat on top like decoration. Enjoy your meal and avoid thanking me.

    1. There's this unusual food that I used to make for my kids when they were toddlers, I still make it once in a while for the whole family during holidays.
Let me name it Bugan Burger.

      Ingredients I use are
One medium size Bread that is more than 24 hours, strong enough to be grated but not spoilt bread pls.
      5 eggs
      Vegetable oil (3 tablespoons)
      One medium Titus fish
      Ugu vegetable leaves (a handful)
      Green bell pepper (2)
      Carrots
      Onion one small bulb
I cube of seasoning and a pinch of salt

      To prepare it.
Wash and season the fish and cook till soft, emove the bones and shred it into pieces.

Use hand grater to grate the bread, grate the carrots, cut the green pepper into tiny slices.
Wash the ugu leaves with salt and water and rinse well, then slice it into tiny pieces

Cut the onions into tiny pieces
Pour the grated bread, carrots and everything (apart from the oil) in a bowl, break the eggs in it, add the seasoning cube and a pinch of salt, then mix it with a wooden spatula or your washed hands.

Put a frying on the fire, spread the three spoons of oil inside the pan, let it get hot, then on low heat, fry the mixture in the pan using your frying spoon to press it down on the pan so that the heat can penetrate.. When one side turns brown, turn the other side and press it down. Just three minutes for each side. Don't let it get burnt(low heat).
If you have bread toaster (sausage maker), you can use it, you can also use your baking oven or microwave oven. The time should not exceed 10 minutes.
Also, you can use butter to lubricate the pan.
Use knife to cut into fine shapes and serve with tea, custard, juice or pap.
Note: I started adding little spicy pepper to the mixture when they grew older as a confirm Yoruba man that loves pepper.

  43. Milky Buttery Yam

Slice your starchy yam into smaller pieces and wash them thoroughly before putting it on fire (it could be gas or stove or anything at all).

Get the yam all cooked plus mashed in a rich blend of milk and real butter to bring about that creamy taste/feel.

Cook till it's tender and voila, your 'milky buttery yam' is super ready!

    Hehehe!

  48. I remember this quick soup that I learned from my room mate during NYSC period, she was from South South. It is not a known soup.
We used to cook it when we don't have light to use our cooker or kerosene in our stove, gas was not common. We will go and buy fufu to eat with it. We used to call it Raw Soup.
    Here it goes:
We need few pieces of fresh and green atarodo(Scotch bonnet) or the yellow pepper
    Small onion
    Crayfish
Bonga fish and any other good fish like catfish , mangala, etc. Don't use panla or eja kika o. You can use three or four different kinds of smoked fish.
    Small sprinkle of seasoning powder
    Small salt
    Small local mortar and pestle
    Clay bowl

    Method
Soak the fish with salt and clean water, wash and debone it
Pound the crayfish, onion and pepper in the mortar, sprinkle salt and small seasoning and pound, pour the fish and pound a little, just two or three blows, don't let the whole fish turn tiny pieces so that you can be picking it one by one to eat your fufu.
Add a little clean water and turn it with the pestle. Soup don ready.
Pour it into a clay bowl, enjoy with fufu.
If you don't have clay bowl, use any plate you have but that clay adds a certain taste to it.
